Until Arrested Development and Scrubs came out, American comedy sucked balls. Even 2 and a half Men is dumb as pig shit, despite being mildly amusing.

Agreed. However Curb Your Enthusiasm and 30 Rock are clever, savvy, hilarious comedies. Seinfeld was brilliant too. Most US network comedy shows are abysmal, stuck in a formula laid down back in the 1950s. The sets are identical, the lighting is identical and for the most part the scripts are interchangeable. Louis CK's show is not bad and of course the Daily Show & Colbert on Comedy Central are in a class of their own. America never had the early 80s comedy revolution that the UK had.
