According to the article in the link you posted, the New York Times printed an article, quoting a book proposal, showing that Schwarzenegger said exactly what Franken is saying in this video. Why can't it be that Franken is only requoting something he read in the Times? Sorry, but this isn't damning evidence of him having lied.

I've read his book, and disagree completely. In fact, I think it's pretty disingenuous to characterize the antics of Coulter et. al. as simple misunderstandings. Leaving that aside, the lies of someone like O'Reilly are notorious (the "Malmedy" incident, to name but one). It seems to me that defending that kind of towering falsehood, if that is what you mean to do, borders on mere ideology, and lessens your credibility.

if it was an honest mistake or not is irrelevant. the point of this video is not "omg! Al made funz of Arnold with a false quote!" its simply that Franken is a hypocrite who doesn't follow his own rules. He calls other peoples honest mistakes "lies" and when its pointed out that its a mistake (like the 2 mistakes in all of Coulters books that were corrected in the paperbacks before LIES was published) he says that is sloppiness that is the same as lying.

Is there any way to verify the quote? Not that I don't trust the red letters on black, but I'd like to hear it for myself. I like Arnold, and don't think he would say that, but in spite of the conservative slant on the video I do respect Franken (as a comedian). Where exactly was this said? Where was it reported?
