  • Sweeet engine sound. I wonder what tires - were they grooved? I'll bet that an F1 car would do better than 1'06 if it were actually qualifying and not on a demo run where they drive with a slightly bigger safety margin. Bourdais' 2007 record of 1'05.8 would be history. I like how in GT5 any of the formula cars can do MRLG in under a minute :)

  • wow you dont need background music for that noise, btw 1 min 6 seconds for that track... omg

  • the driver must need ear pieces.. I mean c'mon the car sounds like:

far away: typical race car (loud)

as it's passing: WTF! SCREAMING BY (REALLY LOUD)

ahead of you: typical race car again ( loud) but not as loud as when it was coming towards you

  • @GrimAdvantage no. they barely hear the engine

  • lol big lol for those champ car fanatics. toyota was never be very good f1 car, always strugle in the midle soo if this car can make record for your laguna seca truck. soo f1 can pawn indy and champ car in any truck any oval and anything. f1 is most advance soo plz shut up

  • Wow. When I hear the sound of a F1 car my heart beats faster. Amazing.

  • This record was soon beaten by a Champ Car driven by Sebastian Bordais...sorry F1....

  • You really think Champ car is faster then f1 lol.

  • @ilija76 techniclly speaking their top speed IS faster than an F1 car.. but Champ/Indy cars have much larger engine capacity, race mostly on ovals & I believe race on methanol... F1 is more to do with acceleration, Champ/Indy about top end speed

  • @Suprahampton It's not about just the engine! Champ/Indy cars are turbo charged and yes they run on methanol. That doesn't mean they are faster. F1 car can go 380km/h like they did few years ago on Monza circuit (Montoya set this speed in Qualification run with its front and back wings at some angle). That bring us to aerodynamics and balance. Power is nothing without a balance and aerodynamics. F1 is no match to any race car. Ferrari budget for a last year was 450euros. Think about it !!

  • @ilija76 Well I know it is a combination of all things combined but the fastest speed set by a champ car was over 250mph on track... no F1 car has come close to that speed on track. But as I stated, that is, in part, due to them having a higher engine capacity, but the facts are plain... in a drag race, the F1 would get to it's max speed alot quicker but the Champ would pass it due to top end. Yes Ferrari etc have stupidly high budgets & some of the most qualified technical minds available,...

  • @Suprahampton What do u think how much it cost a test day in a wind tunnel? Not only just than, in F1 you can find cutting edge technology for the cars of future. In f1 logistics per a car is about 400 people whilst for Champ car? A few.

  • @Suprahampton Thank you for being one of the few people to have a brain amongst the plethora of youtube comments.

  • @CannibalDave Why thank you Dave... I try to make cases/ points with valid information

  • This record was soon beaten by a Champ Car driven by Sebastian Bordais...sorry F1....

  • @Detroitiron this was a demonstration on a track they don't hava telemetry data for...it's really funny to actually think that a champ car is faster on a circuit than an F1

  • Test drivers are like WRC drivers... they're great driving fast alone with no one banging wheels with them, but as soon as they see a challenge from a real racer they piss themselves... Just look at Luca Badoer, great test driver to set up the car for Schumacher, but loves to take it in the rear of an F1 grid. Shit that Toyota was doing 4 second laps!

  • Motogp Bikes are about as loud as F1 cars because they are racing prototypes to

  • @SpeedPsychoYeah

and where's the motogp bike there?^^

    /watch?v=XMSegwn7I7c

  • What a fucking noise.

Liable to damage a childs hearing 50 miles away.

    Christ almighty.

  • Its too bad they dont race at laguna seca I live right next to the track it would be awesome to hear them!

  • Why are some drivers test drivers and other drivers race drivers - if a test driver is a fast driver why is he not a race driver? And if a race driver is fast why is he not ideal to be a test driver?

  • Test drivers normally don't quite have the talent of the actual race drivers, but they're still fast and professional drivers. A team's best drivers compete in the events and its next best drivers are permanent test drivers. Sometimes race drivers take part in tests, but not as often as full time test drivers since that's really their only jobs.

  • what no corkscrew video

  • f1guy17 it says in the video, the track itself is too dangerous for formula 1.

    AHAHA he spelt tyre wrong....

  • You really are a dumbass aren't you? In America they spell tyre... tire. You tried to make the guy in the vid look like an idiot, but you failed mate... what a loser.

  • Brazilian the best drivers!

  • I'm gonna try this in rFactor will post my time.

  • this track is too short for a f1

  • i did the lap in 1m 4.623 seconds on gran turismo 4 with the formula 1 car.

  • i wanna see f1 do this track 4 the US GP one year

  • The team sucks, the driver sucks & only thing that is good is the track. SENNA DA SILVA

  • stop worshipping a dead guy

  • Thx for not having a background music.

  • *walls

  • Yeah it would be nice to see an f1 race at Laguna, but like the old Nurburgring it lacks safety. Nurburgring's problem it being lacking in run off areas and a bit bumpy. And good job by Zonta!

  • Well you know... If you wannabe safe you shouldn't drive F1 cars. People race indy cars at 200 MPH with nout but concrete bowls to run off into.

I know the nurburgring is bumpy, but for goodness sake.. F1 is meant to determin the best. So they should use the elite tracks. If you die, well.. You wern't good enough. :)

  • I think it should be used incase of a tie at the end of the season, or something... Or at least, used for about 6 or 8 of the elite drivers, something!!

Then again, so would the real Nurburgring. :D

It does baffle me how most of the really really good tracks never get used for F1, probably due to 'safety'.. I mean, if you wanna' be safe, drive Touring Cars instead FFS. :D

  • u knw wat?

maybe they SHOULD bring bak the real nurburgring

f1s are safe nehow so y not?

  • It's got nothing to do with safty and everything to do with how much Bernie Ecclestone can make :)

  • actually there is very little run off in several places. And the steep hill would be an issue. There is very little run off in that corner.

  • exactly

  • Yes I honestly think Zonta was holding back because of the safety issue, Explains why he broke track record 3 days in a row. when asked if he would consider F1 to race in this track he said its a good track layout but safety would be the issue! There is little run off in many of the corners!

  • what about monaco? there's no run off there.

  • There are no run off there but then the barriers are much more sophisticated then in the states plus there are hardly any straights in monaco. Laguna Seca is not about to spend millions to improve the track to F1 safety standards, which includes state of the art safety barriers

  • True, so it comes down to money, thanks for the info.

  • i think the point is that monaco meets the high safety standards of F1, whereas laguna seca doesn't.

  • actually Monaco doesn't meet the F1 safety standard, but F1 is there because it's Monaco. Still, Laguna Seca as of now is less safe than even Monaco.

  • Yup...it takes a grade A circuit to host an F1 race...monaco's bumpy tarmac is obviously no grade A, but come on...you gotta have f1 in monaco, otherwise...

  • That's true ... Monaco actually does not comply to a lot of - strict - rules imposed on F1 circruits ...

... but, because it is Monaco, we don't care. Rightfully so, because it is a very nice track. Pilots are aware of it, and they behave to it. The track soon separates the men from the boys, so in that way, it's not really an issue. The boys find themselves in some or another barrier.

  • if you arent living on the edge youre taking up too much room!...jk lol, yeah there have been people die at Laguna recently in cars much slower than F1 cars so....it is fairly unsafe, as are most American tracks...they just dont have the run-off room of their euro counterparts.

  • This'd be a wicked f1 track, haha.

  • WAY too dangerous. The F1 drivers wouldn't go for it...

  • Well, duhhhhh...

  • Alright, now that we have that clear. Yes, it WOULD make a wicked F1 track :) I know the safety of the drivers is paramount and all, but it really would be something special to have a GP at this track. I couldn't agree with you more...

  • but american granprixs are like destruction derbies newayz

    lol

so this track would be red hot!

and full of excitement like the aussie granprix
