The VW microbus looks wonderful ! Why is this NOT in production?! It's 2011! VW be bold!! Oh yes, put a hybrid or plug-in hybrid engine in it !!

VW is not putting the Microbus into production. This concept was developed, then approved in 2001, and canceled shortly there after.

@carguy53 not so fast ,they made some changes and as of right now,it looks like they may build it,I guess time will tell,it looks very much like it did in 2001.

@inagod Actually, I am right. This concept from 2001 is completely different from the Microbus concept of 2011. They may share some styling cues, but they are completely different vehicles. The 2001 concept was close in size, but larger than the Eurovan at the time. The new concept is about the same size as a Scion xB, maybe a little bit bigger. The 2001 concept in the video above, is dead. It will NOT go in to production.

I Love VW! I drive a VW Phaeton. But the Microbus is not in Germany. I hope he cames in Germany

They are going to build the UP, which is very similar to this coming out in 2010.

NOPE: The up will be a microcar with 1 liter fuel for 50 km. Its very small, its not a van. UP is in same range as smart and toyota iq!!

They did have an Up concept with a few styling cues from the Microbus.

yeah it was the space up blue, which is one variation that they might possible build but only the two door Up! has been slated for production so far.
