@stolenmirth, David Byrne was frozen scraced when I first saw him, it was 76 or 77 in a a place called the Hot Club the seedest club and people you would ever meet.
Someone help me, I am addicted to this movie and cannot stop watching it. It's getting in the way of my school work and job, but I go crazy if I don't get my Talking Heads fix.
@blakiecakes419 There's no way to cure a Talking Heads addiction. Trust me , I've been listening to Fear Of Music religiously every day since i found it in my dad's record pile. Still, good addiction
If this song doesn't get you going you must be dead. How i'd like to be driving a turbo Porsche 911 down the GSP w/this song cranking (sans fille, bien sur!!!)
Is it just me, or is this from a VHS feed that was sped up or something? The tempo and the pitch of everything is definately entirely different from the DVD release and the album.
@TheGreatGallbo well I ripped it from my orginal DVD of the concert, maybe the soft I used has changed the final video, or maybe it was youtube when I uploaded it. Or the DVD I bought is strange!
@scoutfree - wikipedia says that the soundtrack is from one concert, and the pics from several. Read the entry to see how Jonathon Demme made the vid.
@TheGreatGallbo It's the kind of problem us Australians usually have when we get imported shows and movies released on DVD. The audio has been ever so slightly sped up so that it sounds like all the music is half a step higher than it should be. Why an american had this problem with this DVD I'll never know, especially since this kind of thing never happens with music DVDs
@TheGreatGallbo i believe the pitch and tempo are spot on but i remember even on the dvd there seemed to be a slight delay in the video. i just remember noticing it watching the cymbals
@TheGreatGallbo sounds like exactly the same speed as Stop Making Sense DVD to me and dam ive heard that dvd hundreds of times to be fair intoxicated by drugs but still! go on Dave you rock
@TheGreatGallbo there is a difference between this & the dvd, but only slightly! Tho, the album n live version are completely different animals, i prefer the live version meself, genius!!
@TheGreatGallbo the speed difference is due to different video formats being used in different countries. USA/Canada uses NTSC, which is 24 frames/sec, Europe uses PAL, which is 25 frames/sec. This clip is taken from a PAL DVD so the pitch is slightly higher and it plays slightly faster.
Anyone else think they should just disable the "dislike" button? Unless it's for like, video's by BP or some shit like that? We all know already that for most video's a dislike is made by some troll who goes looking for video's to bash all day anyway.
I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO SEE THIS CONCERT,@ FOREST HILLS STADIUM FOREST HILLS NY. DR. PEPPER MUSIC FESTIVAL. AUG 21,1982. IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS I BEEN TOO.
The best part of this song is the drumming, but the best part of the drumming is that Chris is wearing chinos and a polo shirt that he forgot to iron for his big movie debut.
Damn they were good.........I saw them outdoors in Oklahoma City in about 1981 or 82. They answered the question: "What does it take to get 8000 white people shaking their booties?" Never seen anything else like it.
8 people actually clicked "dislike" .....wow. Really? I wouldn't mind talking to those people and find out what crap like actually do listen to lol...
Here's a fun fact: you know how this is, like, the archetypical concert video and is universally praised? The main reason for that, besides Talking Heads' performance, is Toni Basil's choreography. Yes, "Mickey" Toni Basil.
David Byrne was just so original, and weird for his time. His style and stage presence were one of a kind, before it was cool to be weird. His creativity is just awesome. He's got talent, personality, and he's just kind-of the all-around great musician,
Arguably the greatest Rock and Roll movie ever made. David Byrne is supreme vocalist, guitarist, showman, satirist, cult figure, cultural icon. This film, the artists who created it, the director and the way it brings the concert alive for the viewers is just stunning.
How good is the way this concert starts with the forst 4 songs in particular - I'm just jealous of anyone who can say they were there - for some reason this is my favourite song - I can't work out why and I've no idea what it means, it's just undeniably brilliant
Christ Frantz is so cool. He's a great musician to be sure, but I really appreciate his sincerity. Just watch him in this performance - he looks like he's having a blast and that's he's pleased to be playing for you. Great song and one of my favorites from the movie along with "Cities" and "What A Day That Was".
