  • I enjoyed the head very much!

  • Abosulutely gorgeous rendition.

Mobley did not do any better.

  • Great playing, great sound, great, great, great!!! Thanks!

  • what kind of microphone is that??

  • Wonderful! This is a version which makes the tune all the more beautiful and 'prooves', if you like, its quality. Fantastic, laid back timing and soulful soloing.

  • What a beautiful play!!

I'm studying this tune right now (on soprano), I'm gonna hear your version many times :D

  • The Bossa Nova influence of the early 60's comes shining through like a beacon. It could have been written by Jobim if I didn't know better. Nice job! You put a lot of high-quality stuff on YouTube! Thanks from all of us sax-loving musicians and music lovers out here in the Ether!

  • A lil' Tubby Hayes in that low end there- I LIKE IT :)

  • Dude, you sound better than you think. Also, yes, this IS the prettiest tune of all times.

  • nice tone, nice concept & vibe! Exactly what I like to hear on a tenor solo of Ceora!

  • I agree. Lee must have been in a very spiritual mood when he penned this masterpiece that he left us with the secures his legacy. And you do a fine job on tenor.

  • very touchin'!

  • Dam, I love the sax... Been playing since 6th grade, but everyone knows Jazz is better. But, I love how this sounds. Too bad I'm better than you though!... Haha, Jazz battle? Go easy on me though.

  • Very nice playing, and clean recording. Always good to hear this tune played well.

  • Thanks, that means a lot coming from a great musician like yourself.

  • Lee Morgan's highly polished gem..one of his everlasting legacies....Ceora

  • This song reminds me of the late 60's vibe. The tv Show Mannix comes to mind. I have the dvd and a lot of the music interludes are in it.

  • hearing this song, I think: no comment is nessesary....

but, it sounds so good... its beautiful.

thanks, says that old man from germany...

  • awsome! nice song, nice sound, and well played. i think this is one of your best

  • As usual, incredible everything. I was going to say incredible tone but highlighting one thing might undermine that you're doing everything else perfectly as well. I have to ask, why did you remove some of your older videos? Some really nice ones, too.

  • Hi Jamie, I just was not happy with some of them anymore, its just natural progression really. I also got a lot of critical comments from people who could not be bothered to check out more recent stuff. Thanks for the very kind comments, much appreciated

  • Another awesome job! Thanks so much!

  • Another nice tune you've introduced me to. I'll hit the streets with this one. Nice

  • nice!!! i love your tones....

  • Today was my first day at school after the summer holidays :-( What a nice surprise to enjoy another fine performance of a wonderful tune :-) Thank you, Matthew!

  • Cheers Ulli, nice to hear from you. It took 2 weeks of my family holiday just to learn this head, now that's what I call a tune!

  • Your tone is just astonishing! I love it! And the way you play it, too!:) Please keep this kind of stuff posted!!!:)

  • Thanks for the support, I will keep posting, but I am getting a bit more picky about what I post, I guess my quality threshold has gone up, which is no bad thing!

  • That was excellent! Wonderful sax playing... nice and smooth jazz! Well done, this song was most enjoyable! ... FrAnK (★★★★★)

  • Cheers, and thanks for the 5 stars!

  • Love it!!

  • Nice one Matt, well complimented by the Hockney pool reproduction!

  • That's an original.... (yeah right :-))

  • Gorgeous tune, extremely well-swung, Matthew.

It's yet another favorite, originally done by the late, great trpt superstar Lee Morgan - his candle burned brightly for just a short time.

Thank goodness there was decent recording equipment available from the mid '50s on, so his fantastic charts & chops live on for all of us to hear.

I believe "Ceora" was on the "Cornbread" LP, recorded in '65, with Hank Mobley & Jackie McLean on saxes.

Thanks for giving it yet another life!!!

  • Cheers sm, I have been on holiday for a few weeks, and I have been working on this tune, it is a tricky one to get the timing right on, it is still not perfect by a long way. I am pleased you know and like the tune, we have similar taste!

  • Wicked you the man......

  • Cheers Frank!

  • another great interpretation!!!

  • sweet and beautiful tone
