OMFG THIS SCENE TOOK PLACE IN MY SCHOOL'S HALLWAY (john Hersey high school) for homecoming we rommed the hallways nd it was so friken scary cause we heard alot of things so we ran lol....
I didn't like this scene in the movie, since Kris doesn't even scream and Nancy i think is just standing there looking at her instead of here where she wakes up screaming, that wouldve been better
It seems to me that the horror movies Katie Cassidy is in are good remakes... A Nightmare on Elm Street, When a Stranger Calls.... Those were EXCELLENT remakes :) Katie Cassidy is DA BOMB BABY, it was a disaster to see her die in the bathroom (When a Stranger Calls) and a disaster to see her get slashed to death
In my opinion, this was the only re-created shot in the entire film that worked. Everything else just looked to me like some student film maker was copying Wes Craven. Samuel Bayer just didn't know how to pace a film like this and he didn't know how to make it cerebral. The 'Nightmare' films were more than just standard slasher flicks, I feel this remake lost that. Jackie could have been great, but he just didn't have a proper script or director like Robert Englund did.
How on earth was the original cerebral apart from its use of the dream state? It honestly comprised itself of clever dialouge and the typical archetype of a slasher film. Not that I dont love its originality as a fan of course. I agree Jackie having to make up his own dialouge to throw his co-workers off base shows he was not handed a proper script. And your right Bayer had horrible pacing, this scene stretched on much longer in the film, it was editted for this reel to appear more frightening.
@tiemedown Oh I don't know, maybe the whole ending where you have to face your fears on your own and if you turn your back on them you take away the power they have on you. The could mean alcohol, drugs, ANYTHING that is controlling you. Freddy was a metaphor for that. It was also cerebral in the fact that tells parents to LISTEN to your children, they might not be crazy just because you don't understand them. That movie was LOADED with cerebral stuff, dude.
Those qualities dont make a movie 'cerebral'. They make it an allegorical archetype, the formatting of a tragic hero, Freddy as sort of symbolic anti-hero-- all of these things are story writing elements orchestrated in a very original way, but when it comes down to it, it is not mind bending or symbolic beyond the basics. I mean I love the original and the re-make as a fan, but I would never compare them to actual works of story-telling art. Freddy is a campfire story, thats his appeal.
I mean the only true philosophical question I saw touched upon was the question of how a human being would utilize ultimate power in a psuedo free environment. I had actually hoped to see the re-make touch upon the possibility of a Freddy motivated by the murder and not be a soulless monster before. The idea of revenge from the point of view of the righteous is much more interesting than Freddy the two dimensional nutter. but its true that i dont watch the movies to ponder, i watch to be spooked
Hay I just made a new Nightmare on elm street music video for the 2010 Reboot, it should be the best one out yet , I just finished and its posted up on my page , WATCH IT NOW!!! :D thank you for the support...
@wecanbelostinstereo This is from a behind the scenes look at the movie. That's producer Brad Fuller's voice saying, "A Nightmare on Elm Street is the jewel in the horror crown". You're hearing the end of his quote. It's nice that he thought that...too bad that didn't consult Wes Craven, Robert Shaye, Robert Englund or anyone else who MADE it the jewel in the horror crown. These guys are only out for money. These remakes COULD be good, but they are just thrown together for a quick box office.
Yeah, they were classmates when they were in kindergarten but they couldn't remember being classmates when they were little. In high school, they knew each other but they weren't really close coz Nancy was kind of like the nobody in her school.
I liked the remake. It had a great mood and some interesting ideas. The original is still my favourite though.
The original NOES may be a little dated, but isn't exactly campy. It has a strong, disturbing, dreamlike atompshere to it which holds up even today. It was grimy and claustiphobic. I can't explain it, but still something about it causes my flesh to creep in a way the remake couldn't.
UM ALL OF YOU OUT THERE WANDERING WHT THE GUY SAID HE IS ONE OF THE PRODUCERS OF THE FILM AND YOU CAN HEAR HIM SAY WHATEVER ON THIS VIDEO A Nightmare On Elm Street (2010) Featurette and it's at part from 1:21/2:00
@TheMOVIEMANIAC13 I was wondering the same thing. Kris only talked to Jesse and Dean mostly, she only talked to Nancy when she walked into the Springwood diner and briefly at the funeral.
@haymish1993 i havent even seen the film yet and this part scared the shit outta me i had a heart attack but the voice sounds creepy x] ROFL if it actually did say whore crown
Oh, nancy was in here with Quentin and she stops and she sees Kris's body getting pulled and when she looks back kris body bag was standing and yeah..
@Zinthaniel the movie isn't even out yet and you're trying to dethrone the groundbreaking original with a remake because it's more.. bad ass? Yeah, because all a remake has to be is bad ass in order to be good. You can expect this movie to have an imdb rating that is about 2/3 of the rating the original has. You might like to believe that that doesn't matter or affect you, go ahead though I won't care.
but if you're right, I'll be happy because I'm tired of seeing remakes destroy the original.
@VenusHeadTrap Lmao, I'm just pushing button... My point was that there is nothing wrong with someone who may, or may not, like this movie better than the original. For you to call them an idiot is childish and, ironically, idiotic. Honestly, I don't even remember watching the original, the sequels turned me off a long time ago. The humor was crap.
oh wow the way u edit ur videos makes this scene so creepy. i got chills down my arms. the sound effects were amazing XDD i can't wait til this comes out
Meanwhile you may want to watch the first movie. I actually recommend you to do it before you watch this remake. I think it's something you MUST DO, you should watch the original movie first. This remake may look good but if you're gonna meet Freddy for the first time, you should meet the real one, this is not him, this is an imitation. The original is the real deal. Believe me, watch the first Nightmare On Elm Street, or your first Freddy experience will be ruined.
The one thing I don't like about this remake is that they changed freddy too much. To me this is not Freddy, it's some other character inspired in Freddy, but it's not him. That's a shame. They should have done a remake with Freddy, not with an imitation, this could have been an awesome remake if freddy was in it.
Other than that the remake promises to be very strong. I just hope they don't blow it with too much FX.
@NocturneSoul well you see the thing is freddy is in it retard, they got a new actor (who looks like hes gonna do a great job) because they wanna do this movie in a different darker, scarier, less campy way than al the the other ones, if you dont like that than dont see it
@metalhead378 This remake is not even near to be darker or scarier than the original. It may be darker and scarier than all the other Nightmare movies, but the first one was very different. It was serious, dark and scary as hell. This remake looks like a video clip, it's not scary at all.
@NocturneSoul i saw it the day it came out, i personally thought it was a lot darker and more disturbing than any of the other ones. i liked it a lot and dont know why so many ppl are whining about it
@metalhead378 I saw it too and I didn't find it dark or scary at all. I thought it was dumb. It's like a movie for stupid teenagers from "The Hill" or something. Besides it looks like a videoclip from MTV, it doesn't look good at all.
And most of all this is not freddy, it's an impersonation, and A Nightmare On Elm Street without Freddy it's just not he same.
@NocturneSoul Dude, this film isn't even as scary as the 2nd film, or the 3rd film for that matter. I didn't find it to be scary AT ALL. Just because you tint your film in blue shades doesn't make it scary. And Freddy DID have stupid corny lines in this one too. You are right about this film, dude. They flat out LIED about everything they said they were going to do with it.
@zackalon I don't think jump scares work, personally. In a theater with the volume cranked they do because it's just like someone firing a gun. Even if you know it's coming you jump because of the noise. John Carpenter is the master of the jump scare, but he doesn't rely solely on that. His films have intensity to them, so the jump scares are amplified because they aren't depended on.
@metalhead378 "different" Not really, there were entire segments that were completely lifted from the first, just done poorly, like this scene. "scarier" Really, does anyone really believe that? lol "less campy" Yep, taking the "Welcome to my world bitch" from the campy Freddy V.S. Jason was less campy than the old films. Everything they said this film would be was a complete lie.
@nWo24life yeah i dk man i thought it was a good movie, but as always if ppl just compare the new one to the original theres always going to be a lot of controversy. i enjoyed the film though, definatly gonna buy it on dvd
@metalhead378 And I totally think that's cool. I will never knock anyone for having an opinion. The only point I'm really making is that this film had no choice but to be compared to the original. One, it's a remake, so it's inevitable comparisons will be made. I think Bayer tried to copy Craven in some of the scenes WAY too much. I love the original, and found this to be fair at best.
@NocturneSoul - I would love to see the old Freddy back, but unfortunately, Robert Englund couldn't revive the role because he's getting too old. He said it himself in an interview. As much as he loved being Freddy, he just doesn't have the energy anymore. He openly admitted that Freddy vs. Jason killed him physically. I know what you mean about this Haley guy not being Freddy; the original shouldn't be messed with, and this new Freddy is about as scary as my 7-year-old Dashund.
@NocturneSoul Actually, this is a reimagined and revamped version of the first movie. As cheap as that sounds, it isn't related to the old Freddy we know and love.
