I had no idea that this tune was used by ITV for the 1974 World Cup. I remember this being the Capital Gold London theme in the late 80's & the 1990s. This always got me ready to listen to Jonathan Pearce's commentary. There were some great football theme tunes back then
Makes me think of Saturday afternoons in the 90s when Radio Clyde's superscoreboard came on the air at 2pm for the day's Scottish football action - when ALL the games kicked off at 3pm, Rangers and Celtic played their respective games at the same times, even the Old Firm games were at 3pm Saturday! Football was so much more simple and better back then :(

great panel, rubbish mascot, mediocre theme, and apart from Holland a pretty uninspiring world cup, [ some outstanding jackets on that panel, especially the Doogs.]
@MrLawman10 I think *all* those jackets have ended up in a retro shop called Iguana on Hollywood Boulevard, I was trying them all on on holiday. Doogs' was way too big for me....
I remember this on Capital Gold in the late 80s when Arsenal won the league up at Anfield.....
