Strange noise in adirondack mountins

Yes it is deffinitely a deer or group of deer. I have heard them many times in the woods before at night/evening. The blows are the deer being nervous because it smells you but is not exactly sure where you are. This is nothing to be scared of. Perfectly natural occurance late in the evening or at night in the woods. If you had simply spoken out to them in a calm voice the deer would have known your location and simply walked or ran off.

My educated guess? Fox. As a kid, I'd hear them barking behind my house. Yeah, deer snort, but I think they'd have to be a lot closer to you than the sound in the video suggests.

That's the sound of a deer snorting. It does this for 2 reasons. To alert others of possible danger, and to wet its nose to pick up more of your scent.

and scare me but i never saw anyone or anything at this point i was walknig very fast unto the concret and heard the loud huffing and puffing noise coming from the road that cuts through pond and how i think its not a person because the second time i heard it it was 200 yards in opposite direction and i never saw a human run that far that fast and not make anyone noise nad i never heard anyone laugh or nothing i still have goose bumps.....

today i went fishing till dark and soon as it went dark i heard a really really loud huffing and puffing noise like air brakes going off in the woods behind me i quickley turned around scared out of my mind and saw a big black human shaped thing run the the pine trees going about 20 mph. i had to walk that way to leave i thought it might be the owner of property trying to scare me with some strange horn but i never heard any footsteps or anything. i walked by waiting for someone to jump out

That was about 20 years ago, and it still "weirds me out" when I think about it and recall that scream, the loudness and the nearness of it. I've spent a lot time alone in the mountains of the Appalachians, Arkansas and Texas all my life, and have NEVER heard anything even remotely comparable to that; would love to know what it was. Reminds me of the night I was walking down a remote country road at 3 am and was followed by a small "cloud" on the ground behind me with a red glow in the middle

@texascommtech many of us have heard and seen crazy stuff.. half of us dismiss it in denial, half of that are afraid or embarressed to talk about it.. i heard a groan in my basement that sounded just like a zombie man...obviously a mans distressed groan.. i went down in my basement with my favorite bowie knife, stood there looking at a brightly lit concrete floor, as i heard this invisable heavy thing drag, stop, drag, stop, drag, stop towards me, until it was 6 feet away, then i ran up stairs

Something I have never figured out though, is the time I went out shooting, and as I was getting my guns and gear out of the trunk, I heard this LOUD, BLOOD CURDLING SCREAM immediately behind me. I grabbed my gun, slammed a loaded clip into it, cocked it and spun around ready to fire within 5 seconds; (semi-auto pistol with magazines already loaded!), as I was quickly backing towards the driver's door. Sat there with gun in hand for some time before I left and never saw or heard anything else.

Definitely a deer! But I remember one time long ago when I was a teen way off in the country, going to do target shooting with my .22, but as I was leaning over into my trunk to get my gun, ammo and target out, I started hearing this strange snorting and huffing in the cedars; it sounded very threatening as though it was warning me to get the hell out of there quick, which I certainly did. Good thing, too; later realized it was mating season and I could have been attacked, hurt, even killed.

and many other large land animals.

Could be a bear since they have many voices,and can mimic other animals.

But most liely a deer.
