@ChannelingusXIVC It varies by state, but in general, you have to have at least 150 credit hours with at least 24 to 30 credit hours in core accounting classes. That's why many graduates with at least 120 hours will go to grad school and get a Masters in Accounting or Taxation first, and then sit for the CPA exam.
@papercut272 I think Actuaries on the whole make the most money, making over 100,000 a year. It's probably the most demanding job in terms of finance so it's also the most likely to make you commit suicide haha.

@supremo502 It's better to have a four year degree, but it is possible to be a CPA (or even another type of accounting) with just a two year and a lot of experience.
@supremo502 why don't u just do 4 years? while in the field there are so many opportunities to expand (MBA) and with a 2 years degree. you will most likely end up being the next door grocery store's accountant.
