I thought it was a great video and the song can easily be applied to whomever the listener admires. In this case the video maker admires Elvis and did a great job, TY
Pure genius!! I'm a huge Elvis and Kenny Fan. This video shows Elvis as a beautiful man, who destroys himself and deprives the world of all that incredible talent. You could've really trashed Elvis, but you didn't!! Great Work, Thank You!!
@pokololop I agree :) And even though the song was originally written about Waylon Jennings, I think the lyrics can as well be applied to Elvis. "You're still a hell of a singer but a broken man" - very touching.
utmom, you nailed it!!!! I wasn't expecting tears when I pulled this song up. A true die hard Elvis fan, wow I am at a loss for words....touching video!!
THIS IS A FITTING SONG! BUT HAS NOTHING WHAT SO EVER TO DO WITH ELVIS! ITS A FACT THAT ITS ABOUT KENNY ROGERS HIMSELF! THE FUCKING IDIOTS WHO MAKE THESE SHITTY VIDEOS HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT THE ACTUAL SONGS
my father was a great musician , he played with the best of country singer , yet many fade away such as him , simply because they feel the fans dont listen close enought to there music anymore , listen to the words of johnny paychecks song old violin and all will know what this means to a musician
landrykkb, yes it was a short time indeed, only a couple of months, but I guess the song made a big impact on Elvis. Just like the character in the song, he was always surrounded by people who pretended to be his friends and did very little to help him but a lot to speed up his self-destruction. Rogers wrote the song shortly after a conversation he had on a plane with Jessi Colter, about Waylon. At least, this is what Kenny has told in many interviews. Thank you for your comment!! :)

Is this a coincidence or did you know that Elvis had mentioned many times that this Kenny Rogers song was one of his favourite ones? It's about an artist's isolation, something Elvis felt many times. Excelente tributo. Te felicito.
This song had been released the year of Elvis' death on Kenny Rogers' Daytime Friends album and 2 months later at that,so unless he or some other artist had previously covered it,I'm not sure how Elvis would have even heard it!

You did a fantastic job with this video,utmom2008!Although Kenny Rogers' inspiration for writing this song was Waylon Jennings & Jessi Colter and since he didn't specifically refer to either one of them, the lyrics just as easily apply to Elvis Presley or any singer, songwriter, entertainer, and such.
This is a beautiful tribute Rosanne!! It really touched me and made me cry! And the song is so beautiful as well! I can't get enough of it!! I found the lyrics on net and it really fits to Elvis' life, wonderful. It was a really good choice to this video! I love your beautiful works, keep them coming! 1000 STARS for you! Many hugs: Betti

The First Edition started doing this in 1975 live with Mary Arnold on lead and Anne Murray cut it in 1976 so Elvis could have heard it easily

@ALAMOCREW The song isn't about Kenny either. He wrote "Sweet Music Man" about Waylon Jennings, because of and for Jessie, Waylon's wife.

One thing's for sure,Elvis would not have to worry about having one last fan to sing to, last year he made over $170,000,000

in the outttakes from elvis "thats the way it is" Kenny can be seen at elvis' after show party in vegas.

Kenny Rogers wrote this song about Waylon Jennings and Jessie Colter after he sat next to her on an airplane.

I really like this song, as Kenny wrote it and recorded it. Great choice for a tribute and good job with the slide.

well gless this song fits elvis and waylon both where great singers ......... even kenny was great toooooooo.........;)

Agreed. Rogers wrote the song for Jesse as she struggled to get Waylon straight. Waylon later recorded his own version of it...
