  • They were a legendry husband and wife team with their routes in the old music hall and variety theatre.. It is a matter of taste, and how it happends to catch you at the time, as to how funny you find them to be. It is a bit like Laurel and Hardy. They were absoloulty brilliant overall but some of their stuff can be a bit laboured and heavy going.

  • ME DAUGHTER'S OUT!!

  • This is an excerpt from the 1936 film 'Stars on Parade', which showcased a number of top-of-the-bill British music hall acts. This sketch, 'Bridget's Night Out', was the best known of the several sketches with which Lucan and McShane toured in the 1930s. This was their most popular sketch. At this time the act was not yet known as Old Mother Riley, as that name was devised only in 1937 by the screenwriter of their second film.
