I think the thinking behind it was if someone likes the video, they will rate it 5. If they don't like it, they will rate it 1, or just not bother. To be honest, I personally never rated anything other than 5 or 1.
Very good thoughts indeed. While i was watching. I started thinking. What could the thumbs up and down option actually be good for. It it good for just straight out agreeing. Like... "So are you guys excited for this video game or?" Like those situations. But other then that.... I cant really think of anything :P

They changed the system because most of the people rated either 1 or 5. Well, they could at least add a "not sure" option.

@willsoe I rated videos every thing. Normally I would go with 1,3 or 5 stars. Either I liked it, thought it was ok, or I hated it.
