I also doubt the reports about the large numbers of sharks being killed each year. I am sure quite a few are killed incidentally or purposely, but I don't believe that number reaches the millions.

Lamina sharks are the fastest, strongest and toughest of predatory sharks, and they've been around for millions of years. I see them all the time with my line of work and this video, by the way, is phenomenal. This was an experience of a lifetime. I have swam with many sharks, sting rays, whales, and dolphins but I have yet to have the courage to swim with great whites although the opportunity has risen for me several times. I did free one who was "surf locked" but it was a pup and only about 2 ft.!

A guy caught a record great white back in the 80's, and upon being interviewed, said "doubt I'll see a shark that big again". He killed the apex predator of the sea just so he could stroke his ego. As far as I'm concerned, if you want to jump in w/ it, and try to kill it, I'm fine w/ that. I'd pay millions to watch. But to shoot it? I'm so glad that there are laws protecting these sharks from jackasses like you

@TDTD32 well why would i try to kill it by giving it an advantage?? jumping in water without no preparation would be suicidal, if you can yea arrange me some funds then yea i can even jump into water (cage) with my sniper or shotgun and aim from inside the cage and shoot at its eyeball dickface.

As I said before, let me say it once more for effect, I am beyond grateful that these sharks are protected under Federal Law, and that if you were to harm one tooth in its mouth, you'd go to jail and be fined more money than you probably make in 3 years. @Afrodude94 well okay if you was bored, but i didn't say i wanted to swim wid them lol, obviously thats giving myself BIG disadvantage against these fish. i have hunted snow leopard quite rare but you find them in jalalabad :), hyenas and some non predators such as gazelle, bakari. with my L115A3 sniper rifle.

Please!!!!!! Only 800 great white sharks remain.That´s less than there are tigers. Great whites die in captivity and do not breed in aquariums.
Right now the chinese are knowingly driving the sharks to extinction!! With ruthless calculation they are counting on the price going up when the supply runs out. That way the value of the shark fin stocks that they are keeping in storage and there are perhaps millions of fins being stored, will skyrocket. BOYCOTT CHINA

@djmcpromo yes, you are correct, there are MANY MANY more than 800 left! Where that number came from, I have no idea! I see them all the time with my line of work and this video, by the way, is phenomenal. This was an experience of a lifetime. I have swam with many sharks, sting rays, whales, and dolphins but I have yet to have the courage to swim with great whites although the opportunity has risen for me several times. I did free one who was "surf locked" but it was a pup and only about 2 ft.!

This video is awesome and you must look beyond the comments that rude and ignorant people make. They just wish they could confer with an experience such as this one. @obone01 With 3 sharks killed every second all over the world.How is that pssible were did you get that information? 300 000 a day are caught and most of the big sharks need to be thirty years before they are able to reproduce and when they do , they produce up to twenty young that grows slowly. You need to educate yourself about what is really happening. C_learly you have no idea about what you´re talking about because then you wouldn´t claim that great white populations are recovering.

@simunator sharks are not delicious because then they wouldn´t throw back the whole shark without its fins back into the sea. They don´t even use flavour from the shark because there is no flavour. So they use shrimp, mussels and and chicken to flavour the shark fin soup. The shark fin is only ther to add textuere to the soup not for the flavour

@zBatboyz It's not that simple. Everything is interconnected, sharks being at the top of the food chain.
Tiny plankton create oxygen. Plankton are eaten by filter feeders and small fishes. In turn, these are eaten by predators like sharks. If you remove sharks from the equation, the smaller fish grow unchecked, thereby eating all of the plankton- the source of 70% of the worlds O2. As we require oxygen to breathe, so we require sharks to balance the sea.

@zBatboyz Because you need to educate yourself about what role sharks paly in the ecosystem in the seas controlling fish populations, keeping disease from spreading among fish popuations and preventing fish that feed on oxygen producing placton to increase in such numbers that they will have an impact on the oxygen levels on the earth. With no sharks around to keep these planctonfeeding fish from consuming all oxygenproducing plancton, the world´s oxygen will simply become scarcer.

Who are you to say who´s facts are wrong? Do you even know anything about sharks? This was even a news story a year ago. Most species of sharks have been wiped out by over 99%. Don´t write such stupid comments about getting the facts straight when you obviously have no idea what neither I nor you are talking about just guesses. The numbers of great whites in the world are estimated at somewhere around 1500 at the most and 800 at the least and that´s a scientificly based estimate.
