Yall had me at Man vs. Machine. I'll never forget my freshman year at Fort Walton. Yall made me a believer in band. btw Supersound Band is my home. Trumpets Kick Brass!!!!!
Ditto on the drill comment. Also, I'd rather see a band sit still and play rather than make me suffer through that intonation. (If you're actually in this band, that comment is aimed at your band director, not you.)
There is a pattern in the Petal Band, every two years they go on a major trip, and this show was during one of those years. Many people will join band or re-join band if the trip seems fun. And most people will be focused on that instead of the important stuff.
so why do people point out the flaws in shows that have long passed. do they want you guys to go back and fix it or something? It's kind of pointless. I liked your show petal. good job.
i am not part of petal band actually im part of the pride of southaven band but i would like to say that there is no reason to insult there show. what do you want them to do go back and fix it when the seasons already over. it was kind of pointless to insult their program like that. Petal i thought your show was great. good luck next year
It'd be nice if you never did vide cor meum again...you guys managed to ruin a beautiful song...it sounds terrible done by a band.....no offense...i'm sure you guys are quite good...that's just a terrible song to be played by a band
We got Vide Cor Meum the day we started putting it on the field, that's why it was ruined. We had so much stuff thrown at us at the worst possible of times. :)
yes it sounded like crap and like BlindParabol was saying, the hornline got the music when they were learning the drill to it, But it doesn't give u the right to say he'll have a different opinion of a 'band' playing it. First they're a professional group who has had more experience with music than we've had. Second they get way more amount of time to work on everything. Third, the horn line got it on the day they were learning drill, which was around 2 weeks before the first competition we had
I remeber that night so clearly I just can't wait to go back and be on the field, play and watch the crowd go wild again. I miss that night so much!!!
yea..i loved this show..i'm in tupelo high school color guard..we were right back there sitting on the visitors side..it was pretty awesome i must admit..gave you guys a standing ovation
You guys really did good I added your video to my profile. On behalf of Southaven I would like to thank your band program for being supportive of the music in Mississippi and again for being an inspiration to us. Your show was awesome, especially the percussion and brass!
that was a bad ass show. Im a former Oak Grove Drum Captain and your drumline truely was amazing. good job guys. between the solo and the marching you kept your band together. they should be thankful they have a good corp. someone needs og's state performace
petal's band was awsome. I like the 2008 show better than 2009, but it was still awsome. Im from gautier's band

The drill makes no sense. There were alot of wrong notes in the opener by either/both the woodwinds and the pit. Ensemble tears in the brass.
For some reason, this show doesn't have as much entertainment value as Man vs. Machine did..
Still, it's an entertaining performance nonetheless.

You are correct.
There is a pattern in the Petal Band, every two years they go on a major trip, and this show was during one of those years. Many people will join band or re-join band if the trip seems fun. And most people will be focused on that instead of the important stuff.
Sadly, that had to happen during my Senior year.

I'm sure there were no tapes with commentary from the judges telling them these things. I don't know what Petal band would have done without you.

guard and visual out shined the overall musicality of the performance.

Good marching tecnhique..but the brass as usual is overpowering in wondwind features. also the drill is very boring :/

Spartan01017. Go and search for The Cadets' 2001 performance of "Juxtaperformance" on Google Video and listen to the show's Ballad movement.
I'm sure you will then have a different opinion of a 'band' playing Vide Cor Meum.
