U got braces ouch that must hurt , I'm getting mine right after my sister is done with hers which is not far away from now I think? I'm kind of scared tho... beacuse I have an over bite and a cross bite *sighs* I don't wanna image how the pain is gonna be....they also want me to get rid of four of my back teeth .

@Morleycat Ah, yes. I remember when I had to wear rubber bands when I had braces as a pre-teen. I had one embarrassing moment when I was wearing them. A friend of mine told a really funny joke, and I laughed so hard, and when that happens, I tend to open my mouth wider than usual. As a result, one of my rubber bands snapped off, and my classmates started laughing at me. It was the first and last time I ever had a bad experience wearing rubber bands.
I am so glad you're putting this series together, Kelly - I'm sure this will come in handy once I have my braces fitted. I have to go back on April 1st (April Fool's Day - ha!) to find out more about my options. Not looking forward to it at all. But I'm glad to hear that it *IS* possible to speak relatively clearly and without a lisp, even if it does take a bit of practise and a lot of extra work. nice video ;) i just got my lower set of braces and they stink!!!! all morning ive been laying in bed sleeping but i cant sleep!!!! i even had to skip school. they ache and are really soar :'( but im glad to hear some new remedy's for braces other than motrin. p.s where can you get (arnica, and taumeel?)
I am lucky to live in a city where there is a homeopathic pharmacy. I have also seen them at alternative health food/grocery stores like Whole Foods. If you still don't have luck there you could ask your parents to buy you some online. Good luck! The pain will lessen pretty quickly.

Will you be wearing rubber bands or a headgear eventually, or does your orthodontist think that it's not necessary for you? Just curious.

I will have to wear rubber bands but I will be able to take them off to eat and work. Headgear is not in the cards thank goodness!
