@stevebootonceramic Hi Steve, I was wondering since I am new to the pottery world, could you please tell me what the best way is to paint my work. Under glaze water colors, colored slip or chalk etc... I see all these beautiful color designs and mine never come out like that. Any information would be great!
@kimcarvin1964 Hi Kim. If you use oxides like I do the colours can be quite muted which is what I like.
However if you want more striking colours I would use ready made underglaze paint on colours over a white body or slip, then glaze them with a clear glaze earthenware clay and glazes etc give the most striking effects. hope this helps if I can help further please don't hesitate to ask
I really enjoyed these two videos. It's always great to watch someone else's creative processes. I liked the second plate with the masking, didn't think it was to busy.
Are you frostbitten? Amazed you can throw in your little unheated workshop in these minus temperatures!
Thanks for this set of videos Steve! Very nice work! I was just thinking that I wanted to get back to making some functional wares... med. size plates in particular. You've got my mind reeling with ideas for decorating. Now to carve out a bit of time to get back to potting!
Very nice! Great design! I like your work

Very nice freehand on the lettering. Are you going to finish the plates with a clear glaze?
