m thinking of getting a dachshund in the summer of 2011 or even befor that and im just wondering if someone can give me some tips on training them and things that i should just know. thanks!
Yesterday marked 5 years since I got her, she's a little over 10 now and still healthy. She still runs around like this after chasing squirrels or on fresh cut grass :-) She absolutely LOVES sunbathing and still loves to roll on grass :-) thanks for nice comments. Enjoy your doggies!

Why is it that so many American dachsies are overweight. I watch so many clips and almost all the dogs are overweight. That's sooooo bad for their backs. Cute dog though.
Yeah, she does look pretty fat here, but I shot this video right after receiving her at the animal shelter. I read up on dachshunds soon after I got her and made sure she exercised and ate healthy so she'd slim down because I wanted her to be healthy and not have back issues, typical dachshund problems. I even learned how to lift and carry her! The most recent video of her is "Bathed Dachshund." it's from late 2008, but it better shows how she looks today. Thanks for your comment & concern!!!!!

@xoxostephanie101 Hey! They aren't naturally very obedient, quite stubborn breed so make sure you book them in to puppy school!

They don't like for anything to touch their bellies while they're walking. My doxie tip-toes through the grass when it's wet. What a cutie.
