my friends dogs female has the sloped back and has moderate hip dysplasia. Her male has the straight back with normal hips. She wants to breed them cause she thinks that the puppies should be fine. What would happen if they breed together?
what happens when you breed a female german shep with moderate hip dys to a male that has normal hips? I found a breeder and they mated those 2 dogs together. Should I not buy from them?
@rouche310 you should.. orther wise they will get in an asylum. but if they get hip dysplasia, just spread in the world how bad the breeder is.. and talk to the breeder if he knows the risk..
Its all for the purpose of fashion, and the LOOKS of the dogs. If oyu look at proper Alsatians from Germanys, you'll see that they have straight backs. Its the stupidity of peopel that think that a certain 'look' is better than the overall health of a species.
My GSD has straight back but she is suffering hip displasia.....

No, dont to it, not worth risking having another 5+ GSD with hip dysplasia

@Karyn9902 She shouldn't take the risk if she knows how bad hip dysplasia is.
It's difficult to be certain the pup's won't get HD
I seriously wouldn't recommend it.
To be rude.. say she's a dumbass for even thinking about it..

this has nothign to do with hip dysplasia. This is to do with the spine.
Its true that angulation doesnt help the condition, but many other dogs, with high backs can have hip dysplasia too!

why have they bread for a spine like that ?
