This song is the japanese version of an Italian song which was written for the 1972 edition of the italian TV show Zecchino D'Oro, a musical show-competition for kids which occurs every year in November and it's braodcasted by italian RAI Channel.

Italian words are about a kid who likes to watch a train that every morning passes near his house and he dreams to take that train one day.

The title/chorus "Cin Cin Pop Pon" was meant to recall the sounds of a train in motion.

I can't remember the name of the album. It could be "Songs for the Children" btw I just remembered another song in that album, it starts with "Follow me, follow me... (and back up singers sing 'sing a song for the children' and finally 'la la la la la la...)" I wish I could recall more titles on the list. Perhaps you once had this album, too? The cover of the cassette shows a group of children age ~6-12 yrs old.
