  • .. conosce bene le sue vie malvagie

    Un percorso di amarezza

Un rancore tenuto dai tempi dell'infanzia

..come se la vita lo avesse amato di meno..

  • Great song... Good job.

    Thanx for this post.

  • Breathtakingly beautiful song and video! One of my favourite songs from one of my favourite artists of all time. It's so heartbreaking. If you like this song, you should check out Fragile Bones (Feels Like Home) by Ali Murray, or anything by Ali Murray for that matter. His music is also sad and dreamy and beautiful. Anyway, David Sylvian is GENIUS.

  • Yeah, seriously Mr Sylvian at his creative peak, I agree with me four months ago, can't stop playing this, what a legend!!!

  • Mr Sylvian at his creative peak (don't listen to Manofon if you want to preserve that creative genius)

  • Thanks for all these super tracks!!!

  • unbelievable magic

  • Very strange. This song was due to be release as a single just a couple of days after Hungerford and was cancelled. I played this for the first time for about 3 years just 2 hours before the Whitehaven shootings. A beautiful song with dark meanings.

Mr Sylvians music works in strange ways.

  • Excellent work.

    I like the cutting.

  • Excellent track

  • belllissimo video per una stupenda canzone..:)

  • Great video.......goes well with the song

  • "Io sono la legge, io sono il Re,

Io sono la saggezza, ascoltatemi cantare"...

  • you are an artist.!

I always loved this song and enjoyed so much your images, that I will now quit and go to sleep.

  • Davvero difficile comporre tante immagini cosi'

suggestive ad una musica cosi' malinconica.

Occorre un'anima troppo sensibile per la media

    degli abitanti di questo pianeta...

  • Strepitoso video, complimenti, Sa Femmina!

  • Excellent photage ! dougie in austin

  • Song is very emotional.

  • One of the most beautiful and emotional songs Ive ever heard. When I first got the album, I wasnt expecting much until I heard the first notes of this song...It's amazing hhow much beauty is in the lyrics, melody...everything...

  • I think, and I may be wrong, but this was not too long after Michael Ryan went on a rampage through Hungerford (SE England) in 1987. When I bough tthis album it kind of reminded me of this. Whether there was any connection or influence I wouldn't know. But it did seem to be.

  • This single was due to be released 1 week after Hungerford an incredible coincidence. The single was shelved in the UK.

  • He is not being literal here, anyway. The song is about things in the past which have harmed us, and at the end of the song he says "my name's on the gun', which i take to mean that he is the one who has caused himself the most harm.

Believe me, it is very sylvianesque, because he deals very often with spiritual pain and past sorrows, and that is what this is all about.

What is more, interjected throughout is the Lord's voice, saying that He is the Law and the King, and vengeance is His.

  • silmalila Are you Mr Sylvian?

  • @goddamn64 Yes she was, through me.

  • There are echoes of these lyrics in Sylvian's later (and even greater) song "A History Of Holes", on the album Snow Borne Sorrow from Nine Horses.

You can find it, with lyrics, at OQWqLdYS1L4 (cut & paste).

  • I believe you. Thanks for the shared insight...

  • Is this work literal? I am a little concerned for the lyrics. (American and Finnish (!) schoolyards come to mind.)

Not very covert, not very Sylvianesque at all, really.

  • The album this song's from (Secrets of the Beehive) was out in the 80's - school shootings weren't so common then, so I hardly think it was as relevant then as it might be now.

  • I think this is the best DS album (Brilliant Trees a close second).

    Blemish, however, is appropriately named...

  • I am in complete and total agreement with you here, SesshyLover...

  • Stunning song with great lyrics

  • One of the most beautiful songs ever...

  • Bella la canzone, stupendo il video.

  • Bella la canzone, stupendo il video.

  • There is so much romanticism, beauty, and freedom in the music! I LOVE it! David is real romantic!and He write the music wich does not have competition, and it's great!

  • I'm pretty sure Sylvian is not Christian though I remember seeing a picture of him back in the day wearing a watch with Jesus on the face. But he's got a Indian guru or something.

  • No, he isn't Christian.

I tried to send you a pm, but you only accept messages from your friends.

I no longer discuss my beliefs publically:

I am tired of getting hatemail.

So let's just leave it at this:

We all agree that DS is a brilliant artist without peer.

  • I've been following Sylvian's career and own his entire body of work. I've become a Christian and even though most of my secular music has gone to the dumpster, Sylvian is still a staple in my music diet: reason? Listen, should you be a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ (or not) to Sylvian's lyrics, and always you hear his own struggle to crucify the flesh and take every thought captive to Christ the Savior.

  • summons up the devil there to give him courage of his own. . . I have always understood this as giving into hate, and the dark side, rejection of the 'good' in itself as a goal. i bet both both jesus and david sylvian would reject things which fans have done in their name or out of inspiration for their work. what is "maria" about , waters warm the table bare, until the summer nights return. it has something of socrates

  • Thank you, you are a visionary in everything from the world of David Sylvian.

  • This video montage is excellent. It is so well synched to the lyrics and music.

    Well done!!!

  • for me, david torn's best moments with guitar.

this song conveys a great volume of emotion for me.the lyrics say everything i wish to say as well.

  • i don't think pictures can explane the true lyrics and music .but its still good.

  • It is rare indeed that a person's video demonstrates that their talent has adequately approached the artist who produced the underlying song. Bravo!

  • beautiful photographs and grafics - they really suit the text and complete it in a way: I feel in them the same breath and twilight athmosphere as I hear in his music. The flow and timing is very well done too. - Conserning the music it is astonishing for me, that it is possible and also adequate to express this aggressive theme in such a discrete manner. There are not many musicians, whom I would associate with the word gentleman - Sylvian is one. greetings!

  • This is simply astonishing! Never thought anyone could marry these kind of images to the poetry of David Sylvian.

  • its bulla 486 you have no idea wot these images mean to me u r trully blessed u have a fantastic tap on emotion and ideal you with david have changed my perception thanks again we must talk at length you are an artist, my friend a true soul who understands ,the meaning of meaning, in the words of dali thanks again

  • Grazie cytuber :-)

  • Ascoltato per la prima volta e per una notte intera 17 anni fa, david sylvian rimane

    insuperabile.
