  • Nice job. Thanks. I had a Bosch 5.4 unit fail recently. I ended up sending mine off to one of the professional outlets that repairs them. They turned it around in less than 48 hours for $160. This beat the heck out of $2600 for a new one (part only) or buying a used one that would probably fail in a similar fashion soon (vehicle is 11 yrs old) I was curious what the inside of the EBCU looked like and your video was helpful.

  • Hello,

I have a BMW 545i SE. The ABS light, Handbrake light, Traction control light stay on all the time. I spoke to the garage they say I may need a ABS module or a speed sensor. The steering wheel is perfectly aligned so I suspect it wont be the sensor anyway plus the 3 lights being on all the time. Is there anyway I could fix this myself?

  • @esjayay by the way the cruise control is not working too.

  • Can this be the problem for the ASC too ?

    Error nº40?

  • @Nastrusnicu Hello,

Possibly, if the ABS doesn't work then the ASC can not use the brakes to stop the wheel spin.

    good Luck!

  • @millertimebmw it's error 39 asb pump I just ckech'it today. my pump is different insise

  • When you disconnect the ABS pump, is there a special procedure for bleeding the brakes after ABS removal?

  • my abs lifgt go on after i put my car in drive and go 10 feet ,it comes on abs brake lihgt and sircle warning lihgts, can some one help me ?is my abs unit pump gone or is a speed sensor? thanks

  • @montenegro132

This is a wheel speed sensor on your car.

  • The ABS light in my car turns off after startup as if it were ok, but when I actually put the ABS to work, it doesn't seem to work in one or more of the wheels, other times it doesn't seem to work at all with no typical vibration on the pedal, wheels simply lock. However I never get the ABS light on after it started up. Got any idea?

  • nice repair vid, but honestly i wouldnt recommend doing this, the auto manufactureres use that ribbon wire for a reason, your working with a very important unit of the braking system, im not doubting your skill or knowledge but if there were just hypotheticaly speaking a serious accident happened due to an abs problem and was investigated and found tampered abs unit, there would be serious trouble there. R&R is the best if that is the fault, i work for bmw, please do not attempt this to save $

  • wouldnt the change of wires create problems?? since wires will have more resistance and mess the up the electronics.

  • Wow Thank You Zach, My ABS light is on all the time from the moment i start my car, so I'm gonna try this out if after replacing the relay's the light is still on. BFC FTW!!!

  • My ABS and ASC light occasionally comes on. Most times when I turn the car off and go into the store or something, I come back out, start the car, both lights are on, I start driving, and it goes off when I shift into second. Any tips?

  • I have own 8+ E36 M3, 92 thru 95+, 318, 325, and M3.

I have a question, there are subtle differences in the brake "feel" between early 92 (firm brakes) and later. Have you seen in the ABS unit itself if the later units have a pressure accumulator to soften the ABS pump cyclic vibrations? I believe this is why the later ABS brakes systems are not as firm as the early 92.

  • @BMWontrack

I'm not sure to be honest, I would think as you said it provides a softer feel.

  • so my abs light is usually on, every once in awhile, it will stay off untill i drive a few miles but 99% of the time its constantly on. just recently ive been having problems with my cruise control, the cruise will either not work at all or it will work for a few seconds then slowly dog down, so....could my bad soilinoids be the cause of both???

  • @paintdemon69

The cruise control should work with or without the ABS working. I don't think they would be related. Unless you had a bad brake switch.

  • thank you

  • very nice ..... thanks a lot )

  • SUPER GREAT VIDEO A+

  • There are two ABS relays. One red and one gray. How do you know which one to buy?

  • testing

  • you rock dude

  • What do you mean?? And thanks for the comment!

  • I like all your videos and this one is ok too. But stick to your old method its just more personal than this new style. Best wishes bud.

  • Your other videos showed you in motion as you demonstrate your repairs. I just like the personal touch more. But like I said your vids are great and keep them coming, Later man.
