Great advice Shaw: "Read a book." Emotions are adaptations. An easy to understand example is fear. Nick's ancestors were adaptive enough to fear predators, at least long enough to pass on their genes to him. This explains Nick's existence, whether he knows it or not. He should thank his lineage for being fearful and horny. Lust is an adaptation, too.
