I lived 1/2 between but the cultures never mixed. St Genevieve is St Louis and has nothing to do with those in the delta . St Louis Catholic and the Huguenots in between shared only a lost memory of France.
Superbe, bravo.
These 3-4 vids are excellent. On this number the vocal is sweet, the fiddle playing is outstanding and the guitar has great tone for backing on these tunes (maple? cherry?). I think I'll listen to this again...
Alas, I don't speak French. I feel a little out of place here. Nonetheless, I disagree with the commenter who was disappointed with the vocal. I think the female voice was a nice departure from the original. I usually think of the Les Freres Michot version when I think of this song, but I was impressed with this rendition.
This is a fabulous song. The intro was absolutely superb! - alas, the let down came with the vocal. The song needs a cajun singer like Nathan Abshire ( still the best version I've ever heard ) or maybe Doug Kershaw.
fantastic !!
I'd love to sit on the steps of their porch and listen to this all day long.

She sounds like a beautiful princess in medieval France, longing for his beloved knight errant
