im getting an error, and my hero is just flipping through the frames, not even moving, but the error is "1084: Syntax error: expecting rightbrace before end of program." plz help, is it something with the character frames, because i think i got the coding right
I love the tutorial - but is it possible to make the character move whilst walking? If I replace the leftright keyframe with a movieclip of the hero bouncing it freezes whilst I move him about the stage. Any suggestions?
@AndyWhite007, yes it certainly possible. unfortunately though, its hard to explain in words. so i'll make you a tutorial on it if you'd like, or i can direct you to another tutorial that will answer your question.
@Effen3 : Thanks - either of your suggestions would be great (what ever is easiest/quickest). There is a similar example at a website called "on enter flash" which shows a small red 'knight' moving and running but i've tried several times with no luck and so have many others going by the comments. There are also others but they dont have moving an running or are in AS2. I've found this to be easy in AS2 - but for some reason imposible in AS3.

I think using ENTER_FRAME you're repeatedly gotoAndStopping to the walking frame, so it is constantly restarting the contained walking animation to the first frame, because it thinks it just got here. You could check if currentFrame is already at the position, or you could have a movement variable to keep track of which direction to move him.

I'm trying to do animation when he foes up or down. I tried doing animation within those symbols but its not working.
