You want to yell and get drunk and act up.....get ready for whats coming and don't be crying after it happens.
I can see both sides here. I cant decide who im more with. The police are right to try and move people back and away from the building, given what had just happend. That said, people should have had a way out of the protest if they wanted to leave.
great thing about all those glass windows is they can be smashed, walked through so that you can flank the pigs from the side......but you didnt hear that from me
A violent protest is the only way we can take this world back to the hands of the working class. A peaceful protest might bring attention but at the end of the day the people in power will still do what they want. People need to wake up.
The people shouldn't be scared of their government, the government should be scared of its people.
@GangstaPotato The people in government make all of their moves through the populace, all it takes is an extended period of peaceful non-compliance, no violence, simply saying no thank you.

@RakeBone Sure, inhibition is probably the one thing above all else that makes us human; the ability to decide not to. But what i was specifically referring to was people who say "fuck those fascists" or "fuck those capitalists" without consider that perhaps the problem isn't in any political party, it is endemic to all forms of government and all forms of economy.
And i do support a people's right to protest, but i would prefer that they protest intelligently; instead of spewing condemnation.
But each country must have a set of rules and regulation regardless of it being democracy or communism or what have you.
The people protesting atm is because of a lack of economy. Many people, having payed so many tax bills are now jobless and poor so in their eyes, the government is robbing them. Scenario B

Anarchist soceities simply do not function in the modern day
@RakeBone In your mind they don't, tell me why we would need to steal if we were all well off? If we didn't have a government, we wouldn't be getting robbed through the myriad of taxes that they try to apply, can you imagine working for someone and not getting taxed? or not having to pay council tax? (you don't btw, same goes for tv licensing)
Most people steal because they're hard up and need to steal, most people are poor because of the government. i see a way out :P
@lofty49 There are places where there are no taxes and there are still crime rates
In truth there will always be good and bad so much so like there is light and dark so to say a world void without crime is like saying the sky will one day fall
As it currently stand, taxes (in Canada I am not sure about the U.S.) are paying for FREE education and FREE health care, and FREE police service. In addition these taxes pay for roads and the people building them.
Ahh lovely fascism and its protection of the evil scumbag shit fucknut bankers and there satanic child molesting obsessive cold money grubbing asses. They really should have destroyed those building and French revolution all those bankers and the elite crusty familie. by the way blair is a satanic.
Anarchists are idiots. A world without any rules and governance would not work. A sytem like the US had originaly is far better as long as the gov't is completely transparent and is limited from encroaching on your freedoms. If US citizens still lived by the constitution and controlled their own monetary system there would be no problem. Stop using isms, just do the right thing! whats with the fucking labeling? I thought anarchists were against that sort of thing?
@FreedomFighterUK Anarchy can mean this, taken from dictionary com for a reference. "a theory that regards the absence of all direct or coercive government as a political ideal and that proposes the cooperative and voluntary association of individuals and groups as the principal mode of organized society. "
RBS are demanding £40 000 from a violent protester who unlafully broke into their bank and damaged their property.
Its nice to see good honest law abiding people getting their own back against the violent thugs who claim to be "peaceful protesters". The more publicity showing these people as the criminals they are, the better!
How many more"jobless morons" will be created by the bank bail out? There were people with various opinions who i'm sure had jobs as well who went to the demo. Even capitalist's who aren't happy with the present situation. It's all to easy to be infleunced by stereotypes created by the govt. controlled media.
If someone feels so strongly about something that they would go along to protest, smash things up and generally cause a fuss why would they cover their faces? If you have something to say then just say it, shout about it as loud as you like - but don't hid behind a scarf like a thug. No one is going to take you seriously then.
as a taxpayer i find it disguting that my taxes have gone to bail out banks..but equally it disgusts me that my taxes bail out the jobless morons protesting. the banks have cost the taxpayer billions THIS year but layabout jobless protesters cost us billions EVERY YEAR. maybe hardworking people should riot about the banks AND the jobless layabout filth..but wait..oh yeah..theres not that many of us left!! jobless yobs are the same financial drain as the bankers just different ends of the scale
Just a few generalisations there. I am an anti-capitalist but I am not a jobless moron. I work in the public sector as do alot of people who believe in the rights of human beings. The people are angry because power has been taken from the public and placed in the hands of people too selfish to use that power to serve the public. Please do not stereotype anti-capitalists as lazy benefit thieves. You could not be any further from the truth.
I'm a nurse I work FULL TIME plus OVERTIME. You need to wake up. Not all protesters are jobless.
Also since when is it "Moronic" to protest. You would not have many of the rights you enjoy today if it was not for our forefathers protests. Assholes like you make me sick.
your a nurse because you couldnt become a real doctor..unlucky..your comment is moronic and wannabe doctors like you make me sick..so what?..get on with your overtime you frustrated doctor lmao blah blah f@cking blah zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
so...let me recopilate to make clear that i've got it all right, so "the protesters where trying to scatter away to their homes while the police where not allowing it?"
people shoud have used clubs and molotof cocktails!, dont you think?
The Evening Standard's April 2nd edition carried a 2 page spread with the headline: "Police pelted with bricks as they help dying man."
Eye witness reports noted that it was in fact protesters that administered first aid to Ian Tomlinson.
On the day the amateur footage was released, showing the police attacking Tomlinson, a Police terror raid was 'urgently' brought forward following an indiscretion by policeman Bob Quick, assuring that the amateur footage was not the main news item.
I heard on the sky news report that some people waved bank notes at the protesters from far up in safe buildings. I wish I could get my hands on these people...... I would force feed them there beloved money and beat them to death. I would not feel a shred of guilt. These people need to feel the fist of the people, just like the police, who provoke violence to the extreme every single time.
Since by this time windows had been smashed on the RBS building & the offices looted, I think the Police response is entirely proportionate. No-one (including the Police) has an issue with peaceful protest. This wasn't peaceful. I went on a protest on 31st March and the Police were great, closing off roads for us, providing outriders etc. They even praised our behaviour and want us to make it a bigger event in the future because they enjoyed themselves so much.
I was quite annoyed by the police on the 31st. I wasn't in the middle, so I couldn't really see, but I was told that all of that frustrating stopping-and-starting was their doing and they were deliberately holding us up.
Bear in mind that on the 1st, we were being cordoned in. We were standing there for ages before those windows were smashed, hoping to march past. We couldn't get out at the back either. The other thing that I'm suspicious about (not sure if you were there, but if you were...
you'll probably know yourself) is that they seemed to allow us right up to the bank. We must have pushed them back a good 500 metres quite easily. Then all of a sudden, those genetic super-horses appear, the riot police give us a kicking and we realise what sort of force they actually have.
I've no proof, obviously, but it 0did make me wonder if they were looking for an excuse. If they had that up their sleeve all along, why did they let us push them back so far in the first place?
i totally agree, a peaceful protest has a longer affect and is accepted by the people you want to listen. as soon as there is criminal damage or violence (although i understand peoples anger)the point of the protest is lost, leaving the press (vultures) to twist words and pictures.
I have been thinking of the exact same thing the whole entire time, it hurts to see violence because i know that the way that the media "rewrites" things, your average person sitting at home will think that the protesters are the uncivilized and insane ones! Once the first punch is thrown by a protester, the whole "power" of the protest is lost.
I was on the frontline, and it's not true that the filth weren't using their batons. The cracked one boy's ribs (who just happened to be black) and then they were hitting us under the shields where the cameras couldn't see them. They were using them to jab us in a delicate area as well. Up until we were cordoned, there was no violence.
Sorry? I'm not sure what you mean. There were quite a few journalists around us, but most were a couple of rows back, so the reporter in this video couldn't see that they were hitting us below the sheilds. I think they're told to take out your knees, but the more violent cops hit you 'where it hurts most'.
They attacked a couple of people over the sheilds as well. One guy next to me had blood coming from his from his head, but the news didn't report it for some reason or just didn't catch it.
Many will confuse the issues! It is not about ideology, it is not about class, Our society is run by incompetent, morally bankrupt, corrupt parasites who live by the doctrine of sacrifice and morality of death! They are fake saints and saviour who would turn the world into a corporate fascist prison for the benefit of global elites. Your saviour is you and your rational mind. Reject their mysticism and deceptions. A=A 2+2=4 the revolution has begun. Be the revolution
im all for peaceful protest, but im also all for police laying the beat down on the small number of arseholes who just want a bit of bother and dont actually know what they're protesting about! If someone smashed my window with the cowardice of wearing a balaclava, i think i'd knock his teeth out with a baton too!
they probably say 'yeeaaah, down with brown and obama!' but when asked why they are protesting, they say 'well..erm...erm..ive got a poster of che guevara on my bedroom wall?...' twats
Things have got to this stage, as the people are simply OUTRAGED at the fact GOV does NOT listen to them.
When a Gov denies the right to protest peacefully, as it does not want to be put under to much pressure, to make the necessary changes required in a JUST society.
Well then it makes violent protests innevitable.
I in NO way condone violence, although I do see that in serving their real masters (the BANKERS), the GOV has neglected its ONE REAL RESPONSIBILITY, which is to the PEOPLE.
But what of the democratic process anyway? Take ten people on a desert island. One of them works hard to build a shelter, other utilities and get food, while the rest sit around all day doing nothing. Do they really have the right to take most of what he has, purely on the merit of a strength of numbers? Nine people can be wrong you know.
What does a number have to do with doing what's right? He is the leader on that island. If there's anarchy, they'll all starve.
One question...i stayed nr Euston overnight, and all i heard were helicopters. I ventured through Chelsea and saw the protest at Trafalgar Square.
i saw the protest outside a hotel in kensington....yet no-one responds.
i stayed in a place that helped with london 7/7.; and they kept me safe. (see sky news, for breaking news detail)...they have a plaque inside the hotel for saving lives.
you live and abide by the rules of the country you are staying in,
Che Gueveara would have thought the so called 'anarchists' within this urbanised and wealthy context were just idiots looking for a fight. The system isn't perfect but I'll be damned if you could do it better. We are not being oppressed; if my friend loses his job/pension/recieves a paycut, he will live, and will still be able to feed his family and live to a reasonable extent. chill out
the intention was not to cause mass hell like a bunch of adolescent pricks with points to prove. it was supposed to be a peaceful protest and thankfully it pretty much went down that way. most violence was caused by police but thats the same old shit. this is one of many reasons im glad we 'euros' dont have anything in common with you americans. from your own description you should all be in cages at the zoo, while we 'tea-drinkers' stand around and point at the filthy animals we've incarcerated
stop licking his balls brown for fuck sake. who here (who is british) would rather be european than semi-american? in other words, do we tell the US to fuck off and join the EU (more than we begrudgingly have already) or do we continue to side with those fucking yanks while hey continually shaft us. the fact they now have the popular face of obama makes no difference, same shit, different term. im smiling from ear to ear that there is a black prez but he is still the same. no troops out, more in
Politicians (puppets of the elite), corporate fucks, "banksters", and the so-called global elite understand only one language, namely "the good old-fashioned arse whipping"!!! Kick their arses, stripped their assets, and remove them from their positions!!! They failed, lied, deceived, and stole from the the people!!! Revolution be reborn!!! Hail to the Revolution!!! Power To the People!!!
That is great for you that you are rich, but very narrow-minded to say that you hate poor people!
Do you not think that you should hate the corrupt, greedy, power-hungry so-called world leaders and their bosses (The Bilderbergers, Iluminati), who are responsible for this chaos, instead of hating the poor people?
How do you know what neighborhood I live in?
I am not poor, but not rich either, and I live in a middle-class neighborhood. I am happy for you that you are rich! Make the best of it! ;)
I just had a "hollalujer" moment when another world leader voiced his appreciation to Obama for changing the world and it's relationship with the USA. I thank god for answering the prayers of so many of us. Obama is a world class leader, mentor and model.
hes definately a leader. Which god where you praying to again? Just curios which god cares more about the economy than complete moral decay... Yes, obama is a leader alright, and the prayers of many have been answered.
I think the Riot factor has really fallen off in Europe! You Euros should come see how we do it right here in the USA. Just wait and see NCAA championship,World series,NBA,NFL....WE DON'T CARE!!!!!
We torch our own cities over sporting events and were all armed, well armed!!!
Just you wait, bunch of tea drinkers, we will show you what a riot is when they take American Idol off the air or something really important like that. But not the global economy !
Chomsky's 1997 speech were he talks about Free Market Capitalist Rhetoric being a distraction from the reality of the public constantly subsidizing & bailing out banks & big business.
That may be something to do with the fact that it is extremely democratic. As Bakunin, the famous anarchist put it:
"Anyone who makes plans for after the revolution is a reactionary"
I'd like to see an organized health service & such. Most anarchists only really believe in dismantling the most repressive parts of the State & putting the rest into the hands of the people, in a self-governing politically participatory system.
so how do you pay for the "health service & such"? You need taxes - and presumably these are uniform and national, or else you would have well-equipped expensive hospitals in wealthy areas and bad hospitals in poor areas. So you need a national tax office. How to enforce the collection of tax? Police and the courts. How to make decisions on the national imposition of tax? Has to be from a central/national power. This logic applies to just about everything else, leaving you with..the status quo!
No, the Status Quo protects the privilege of the rich elites.
Even, if we do just what you say, & turn it round so that the Police protect the people rather than the class system & the courts aren't just filled with judges from Upper middle class backgrounds & literally just de-monopolize the state from the hands of the rich & turn it over to the people, then the Status Quo is broken.
But Anarcho-Syndicalism is far more complex than that. Read Rudolph Rocker or Chomsky.
Definition of anarchy, Collins Dictionary: lawlessness; lack of government in a state; confusion
Anarchist: one who opposes all forms of government
You're never going to sell that idea to ordinary decent people. Granted there is an element of truth in what you're saying, but this isn't the way to go about changing things.
I never thought there'd be all this anarchism on my doorstep. Finding it all rather interesting-if alarming.
Isn't the pure dictionary definition what we need? If you're going to use English, we have to abide by a common meaning here, even if an anarchist knows what they mean.
The etymological root of an anarchist is someone without a leader. If you're going to 'decentralise' (whatever you mean by that) without a leader to say what goes, that means everyone stealing a part of private business.
Decentralising sounds good at first. Decentralising to where, to whom and by whom.........?
You need to go & read a few hundred more books or so before you start discussing real politics with people.
And not textbooks.
Go learn what decentralise means first, in the anarcho-context. Don't go to a dictionary. Read what real anarchists & intellectuals mean about decentralization. It'll take about 10 or 20 books to get the full concept. Not a sentence or two from a dictionary.
Stop being a book dodger. Go read Chomsky, Rudolph Rocker & Bakunin.
Thanks for this thoroughly patronising response. You've just alienated a whole swathe of common-sense thinking people in talking down to me.
You can't go changing meanings of words around to suit your own wishes. Words have concrete meanings. If you want to get an idea across, use standard plain English. Decentralisation means less power in the center, so more elsewhere-simple...but by whom...........?
Yes words change their meanings over time. The English we have today isn't the same as fifty years ago. Collins is using the more modern shade of anarchy as chaos (being a modern dictionary). In fact, that dictionary is from '83! Anarchists are naiive to disregard public perception of them as a threat to society-which they are.
But a movement without a leader a-narchic is chaotic by default, as each element within wants its own way. This was why the USSR needed leadership.
...leadership that lied in wait to shoot all the intellectuals when the time was right and reap the wealth just the same as in any other system.
The leader is the one with the vision and the wealth. They are his or hers to do with as they see fit (within moral grounds of course) and if someone agrees to work for them, they do so on the agreement they have a wage. Taking over their wealth is nothing less than theft.
So you now agree with me that words aren't concrete & do change their meaning & usage overtime & that the original use of Anarchy was how I explained a political & that it has become perverted to mean chaos & disorder over time (in my opinion because it benefits the interests of anyone with vested interests in defending established power systems).
Now, with regards to your point about Anarchy being chaotic by default. This is debatable.
The State is a repressive, coercive apparatus. It is responsible for the lives of 270+ million people in the last 100 years alone. Even modern democracies are brutal & repressive (the U.S. having slaughtered 10+ million & overthrown 50 governments since WWII).
But I agree, that pure anarchy itself would be an abhorrent society.
But, that is why other ideas & forms of anarchy arose, such as Anarcho-Syndicalism. Where the state is dismantled & power decentralized & the people self-govern.

Some take on new shades, whilst mostly the Latin ones have concrete ones: induce to draw in; reduce to draw back ect.
With 'anarchy' you really have to take on board the shade it's been taking for decades now. Remember punk rock's Anarchy in the UK?? That's right..that was over thirty years ago! This is the kind of anarchy we think of when you threaten it.
It's more reminiscent of Anarchism & Libertarian Socialism, since Proudhon was the first to state that 'Property is theft' & not Marx, as many Capitalists try to maintain.
Sharing out land would be impossible in advanced industrial societies, it would cause widespread famine & chaos (although it could still be possible in underdeveloped countries).
That is why economic solutions are preferable & why redistribution of wealth is not theft, but merely compensation for theft of land & resources.
Some might say. What would you call that? local bobbys looking after the people,I don't think so.They are supposed to be there to protect us,not the creatures that are creating the problems. If your quite happy having your civil liberties stripped away, carry on sleeping. The evidence is out there if you care to look ( see video called taking liberties as a good starting point ) for it.Governments building private armies disguised as police.Personally I thought my comments were rather subdued.
the rich get richer, the poor get poorer, not for nothing, but that will never ever ever ever ever change unless the governments and bankers are overthrown by force, and THAT will never ever ever happen.
see how they defend the banks? Its socialism for them and we have to deal with the consequences. The police and the government just work for the rich banking interests.
what do you think will be achieved by smashing up a bank? its received billions in bailout money so the tax payer will pay for that broken window? plus it gives the banks an excuse to prosecute anyone wearing a black hooded top who was in that area on that day.
true but you can't just let them win, they just take and take and when you have nothing left, they take some more. you have to stand up to bullies and that is what they are bullies. they represent everything that is wrong with the world we live in and smashing a window sends a message to these greedy corporate fat-cats that the people aren't willing to take their shit any longer.
in reality you know as well as I do the people will put up with it they want to change the system but are scared to overthrow our current rulers because inreality they havent got a clue as to what to replace the current system with. the window smashing is essentialy pointless.
That's because Marx decided that a dictatorship of the Proletariat would be needed to vanguard the Socialist transitory period to his vision of anarcho-communism.
He was probably right. But as Bakunin observed in the 1870's. Any dictatorship can quickly become corrupt & turn to atrocity.
In fact, it's why he broke his friendship with Marx, was thrown out of the 1st international, denounced Communism & became an Anarchist.
lol cause there was rows of them further back, and some on horses further back, not just what yew can see here! dont you think people might have just walked threw if they could have!
I can't blame people for being extremely angry at the fact that bankers and politicians are having secret meetings(for years) AND that the police have "PENNED" people in where no-one can come or GO!?
it's a shame to find rich-kid environmentalists trying to find a stage for their meaningless existence, while REAL people with REAL issues are trying to wake people up about their jobs and homes being bought and sold out from under them for a huge profit and the ever-deepening divide between rich and poor!
4 real fuck all these bureaucrats everywhere....robbing the people blind all over this planet! it is time for the proletariat to rise!!!!! QUE VIVA LA REVOLUCION!

If US citizens still lived by the constitution and controlled their own monetary system there would be no problem. Stop using isms, just do the right thing! whats with the fucking labeling? I thought anarchists were against that sort of thing?
..or are they just confused?

Just a few generalisations there. I am an anti-capitalist but I am not a jobless moron. I work in the public sector as do alot of people who believe in the rights of human beings.

DastardlyDick1 2 years ago
I was quite annoyed by the police on the 31st. I wasn't in the middle, so I couldn't really see, but I was told that all of that frustrating stopping-and-starting was their doing and they were deliberately holding us up.
Bear in mind that on the 1st, we were being cordoned in. We were standing there for ages before those windows were smashed, hoping to march past. We couldn't get out at the back either. The other thing that I'm suspicious about (not sure if you were there, but if you were...
samsonlovesyou 2 years ago
you'll probably know yourself) is that they seemed to allow us right up to the bank. We must have pushed them back a good 500 metres quite easily. Then all of a sudden, those genetic super-horses appear, the riot police give us a kicking and we realise what sort of force they actually have.
I've no proof, obviously, but it 0did make me wonder if they were looking for an excuse. If they had that up their sleeve all along, why did they let us push them back so far in the first place?
samsonlovesyou 2 years ago
i totally agree, a peaceful protest has a longer affect and is accepted by the people you want to listen. as soon as there is criminal damage or violence (although i understand peoples anger)the point of the protest is lost, leaving the press (vultures) to twist words and pictures.
unity5271 2 years ago 10
I have been thinking of the exact same thing the whole entire time, it hurts to see violence because i know that the way that the media "rewrites" things, your average person sitting at home will think that the protesters are the uncivilized and insane ones! Once the first punch is thrown by a protester, the whole "power" of the protest is lost.

When a society is run on core values, such as JUTICE FOR ALL, HONESTY.
Well people simply do not need to be FORCED (by the police FORCE, armed FORCES) to comply with its LAWS.
They comply NATURALLY.
People only need to be FORCED, to adhere to a system which is UN-JUST and Contradictory, of all that is KNOWN to be right and true.
Like the ONE we currently have.
NOTHING BUT A SYSTEM OF CURRUPTION/CONTRADICTION, and of course the CONSTANT LYING, required to HOLD IT ALL TOGETHER.

That's exactly what the police fear:
Anarchy.
Not in the sense you mean, but in the sense Anarchists mean it, ie:
A Self-Governing society controlling it's own affairs, unhindered by Rich Elites.
CapitalistHolocaust 2 years ago
no organised health service no one to fix the roads? explain anarchy to me as I have so far come across non other than 23 different explanations
anthonyo4 2 years ago 2
That may be something to do with the fact that it is extremely democratic. As Bakunin, the famous anarchist put it:
"Anyone who makes plans for after the revolution is a reactionary"
I'd like to see an organized health service & such. Most anarchists only really believe in dismantling the most repressive parts of the State & putting the rest into the hands of the people, in a self-governing politically participatory system.
CapitalistHolocaust 2 years ago
so how do you pay for the "health service & such"? You need taxes - and presumably these are uniform and national, or else you would have well-equipped expensive hospitals in wealthy areas and bad hospitals in poor areas. So you need a national tax office. How to enforce the collection of tax? Police and the courts. How to make decisions on the national imposition of tax? Has to be from a central/national power. This logic applies to just about everything else, leaving you with..the status quo!
MattA96 2 years ago
to MattA96:
No, the Status Quo protects the privilege of the rich elites.
Even, if we do just what you say, & turn it round so that the Police protect the people rather than the class system & the courts aren't just filled with judges from Upper middle class backgrounds & literally just de-monopolize the state from the hands of the rich & turn it over to the people, then the Status Quo is broken.
But Anarcho-Syndicalism is far more complex than that. Read Rudolph Rocker or Chomsky.
CapitalistHolocaust 2 years ago
Definition of anarchy, Collins Dictionary: lawlessness; lack of government in a state; confusion
Anarchist: one who opposes all forms of government
You're never going to sell that idea to ordinary decent people. Granted there is an element of truth in what you're saying, but this isn't the way to go about changing things.
Pulsar205 2 years ago
To Pulsar205:
Nah, that's a dictionary definition of pure Anarchism, certainly not a political definition of the many forms of anarchism that exist.
Remember, the rich elites control the doctrinal systems, so Anarchy needs to be associated with chaos.
Anarcho-Syndicalists believe not in completely removing the State, but in decentralizing it's power into the hands of the people. Self-Governance.
Noam Chomsky, who is considered one of the most important intellectuals alive is an Anarchist.
CapitalistHolocaust 2 years ago
I never thought there'd be all this anarchism on my doorstep. Finding it all rather interesting-if alarming.
Isn't the pure dictionary definition what we need? If you're going to use English, we have to abide by a common meaning here, even if an anarchist knows what they mean.
Pulsar205 2 years ago
[cont.]
The etymological root of an anarchist is someone without a leader. If you're going to 'decentralise' (whatever you mean by that) without a leader to say what goes, that means everyone stealing a part of private business.
Decentralising sounds good at first. Decentralising to where, to whom and by whom.........?
This smacks of communism.
Pulsar205 2 years ago

Anarchist 1 : Lets meet at 12 and protest against G20 at such n such a place
Anarchist2 : fuck off you cant tell me what to do
StolenMonkey 2 years ago
aha ha!!
Pulsar205 2 years ago
You need to go & read a few hundred more books or so before you start discussing real politics with people.
And not textbooks.
Go learn what decentralise means first, in the anarcho-context. Don't go to a dictionary. Read what real anarchists & intellectuals mean about decentralization. It'll take about 10 or 20 books to get the full concept. Not a sentence or two from a dictionary.
Stop being a book dodger. Go read Chomsky, Rudolph Rocker & Bakunin.
BTW Communism was a monstrosity.
CapitalistHolocaust 2 years ago
Thanks for this thoroughly patronising response. You've just alienated a whole swathe of common-sense thinking people in talking down to me.
You can't go changing meanings of words around to suit your own wishes. Words have concrete meanings. If you want to get an idea across, use standard plain English. Decentralisation means less power in the center, so more elsewhere-simple...but by whom...........?
Pulsar205 2 years ago
Heh, I was being a bit patronizing. My apologies.
"You can't go changing meanings of words around to suit your own wishes"
The language is constantly evolving.
But, the original usage of Anarchism was in the political sense meaning a form of politics were there are no leaders & no government.
The term then became perverted by those in power to associate it with chaos & disorder. I'm afraid these are the perverted terms.
So you should inform the Collins dictionary not to change meanings.
CapitalistHolocaust 2 years ago
With regards to your comment:
"Decentralisation means less power in the center, so more elsewhere-simple...but by whom...........?"
The people.
CapitalistHolocaust 2 years ago
Yes words change their meanings over time. The English we have today isn't the same as fifty years ago. Collins is using the more modern shade of anarchy as chaos (being a modern dictionary). In fact, that dictionary is from '83! Anarchists are naiive to disregard public perception of them as a threat to society-which they are.
But a movement without a leader a-narchic is chaotic by default, as each element within wants its own way. This was why the USSR needed leadership.
Pulsar205 2 years ago
...leadership that lied in wait to shoot all the intellectuals when the time was right and reap the wealth just the same as in any other system.
The leader is the one with the vision and the wealth. They are his or hers to do with as they see fit (within moral grounds of course) and if someone agrees to work for them, they do so on the agreement they have a wage. Taking over their wealth is nothing less than theft.
Pulsar205 2 years ago
So you now agree with me that words aren't concrete & do change their meaning & usage overtime & that the original use of Anarchy was how I explained a political & that it has become perverted to mean chaos & disorder over time (in my opinion because it benefits the interests of anyone with vested interests in defending established power systems).
Now, with regards to your point about Anarchy being chaotic by default. This is debatable.
CapitalistHolocaust 2 years ago
The State is a repressive, coercive apparatus. It is responsible for the lives of 270+ million people in the last 100 years alone. Even modern democracies are brutal & repressive (the U.S. having slaughtered 10+ million & overthrown 50 governments since WWII).
But I agree, that pure anarchy itself would be an abhorrent society.
But, that is why other ideas & forms of anarchy arose, such as Anarcho-Syndicalism. Where the state is dismantled & power decentralized & the people self-govern.
CapitalistHolocaust 2 years ago
With regards to your point about theft. No human has any greater claim to earth's resources & land than any other human.
Capitalist property (Land) Laws allow rich elites to hoard these resources & deny the rest of us access to them.
If we are denied access to the things we need to live, then taxation & redistribution of wealth is thoroughly justified.
Many would argue that an expropriation of those resources into the hands of the people would be thoroughly justified.

CoffeeLilac 2 years ago
It's more reminiscent of Anarchism & Libertarian Socialism, since Proudhon was the first to state that 'Property is theft' & not Marx, as many Capitalists try to maintain.
Sharing out land would be impossible in advanced industrial societies, it would cause widespread famine & chaos (although it could still be possible in underdeveloped countries).
That is why economic solutions are preferable & why redistribution of wealth is not theft, but merely compensation for theft of land & resources.

see how they defend the banks?

Obama sucks.....he is an embarrassment to the USA.
His gift to the prime minister: DVD's (in the wrong format) (easily found at walmart in the "value bin")
His Gift to the Queen: Ipod (She already had one.)

communism breeds dictatorships
k3304 2 years ago
That's because Marx decided that a dictatorship of the Proletariat would be needed to vanguard the Socialist transitory period to his vision of anarcho-communism.
He was probably right. But as Bakunin observed in the 1870's. Any dictatorship can quickly become corrupt & turn to atrocity.
In fact, it's why he broke his friendship with Marx, was thrown out of the 1st international, denounced Communism & became an Anarchist.
He basically predicted Communist atrocity.

I can't blame people for being extremely angry at the fact that bankers and politicians are having secret meetings(for years) AND that the police have "PENNED" people in where no-one can come or GO!?
Yeah, I'd throw a punch or two...

it's a shame to find rich-kid environmentalists trying to find a stage for their meaningless existence, while REAL people with REAL issues are trying to wake people up about their jobs and homes being bought and sold out from under them for a huge profit and the ever-deepening divide between rich and poor!
