@pookturtles it's because leblanc (lupin's writer) asked conan doyle to write a story together making a match between holmes and lupin but doyle refused due to his illness and the end of holmes..but later doyle died and leblanc wanted too much to write about them together..so he created another sherlock due to copyrights..so he renamed him herlock sholmes...

@pookturtles What's interesting to note is that Herlock Sholmes was actually supposed to be Sherlock Holmes, but Conan Doyle called LeBlanc out on it, and LeBlanc changed it to avoid problems with Conan Doyle, while retaining the purity of his works. At least it wasn't done when this was made, or I'd be pissed.

Technically yes and it was in the first editions of the novels but Aurthur Conan Doyle protested the unauthorized used of his characters so later they were thinly disguised as Herlock Sholmes and Wilson

Ditto. I used to watch this show when I was eleven. Of course those were the days when YTV had some kick ass programming (Coming home from school in time to watch "The Zone" was almost a regular thing with me). I was suprised that this series only lasted 26 episodes.
