Great clip. Marshall was always my favourite player when I was a kid growing up. To face that little demon running into you and delivering those fearsome swinging, skidding, bouncing fireballs would have been sheer terror. Marshall is a great bowler. He didn't have a big jump, nor was he the quickest out of the Windies attack in those days but his ability to swing it like he does and his action is just all so perfect.

There was a guy i saw in trials. he used to swing the new ball in the air into the stumps. i think it was his action doing the trick for him. anyways, was kinda weired.

Had guys like Gavaskar and Amarnath (good players of pace bowling) hopping on Indian pitches (which don't assist quicks) in the test series in 1984, which windies won 3-0. It was stunning to watch and you could sense the fear in the Indian batsmen coming to the wicket.
Shyamk8....he was one of the greatest, how do separate him from Holding, Garner, Roberts, Ambrose, Wasim...........they were all devastating on their day.
Look up his stats. Excellent bowling averages in all countries (except NZ, but he did'nt play many there). If your metric is mastery in all conditions, I think only McGrath comes close. The others were great, but MDM was a cut above. Lillee couldn't take wickets in Pak, and Hadlee wasn't equally good everywhere. Any fast bowler worth his salt should succeed in AUS and ENG because conditons favor fast bowling, but succeeding in the subcontinent requires greater skill!

But Hadlee might be a fair contender for the title too. He was a one-man force and unlike your belief, he has taken wickets everywhere (yes, including the sub-continent).
Hadlee never had the luxury of an awkward Holding, a pacy Roberts or a mesmerising Warne bowling from the other end as Marshall and McGrath had.
Also, another great bowler could be Imran who used to single-handedly bowled his side to victory on dead pitches.
One of the greatest, it is sad to watch all this now, I can still remeber a time when the big windies ruled the world with there sheer pace, truly sad... may his soul rest in peace!

Great clip. Marshall was always my favourite player when I was a kid growing up. To face that little demon running into you and delivering those fearsome swinging, skidding, bouncing fireballs would have been sheer terror. It's funny though how beautiful it is to watch when you're not facing him. It was tragic to lose him so young. May he rest in peace.

The greatest pace bowler of all time. Had guys like Gavaskar and Amarnath (good players of pace bowling) hopping on Indian pitches (which don't assist quicks) in the test series in 1984, which windies won 3-0. It was stunning to watch and you could sense the fear in the Indian batsmen coming to the wicket.

Look up his stats. Excellent bowling averages in all countries (except NZ, but he did'nt play many there). If your metric is mastery in all conditions, I think only McGrath comes close. The others were great, but MDM was a cut above. Lillee couldn't take wickets in Pak, and Hadlee wasn't equally good everywhere. Any fast bowler worth his salt should succeed in AUS and ENG because conditons favor fast bowling, but succeeding in the subcontinent requires greater skill!

Very true, man. I have no doubt that he was the greatest ever.
But Hadlee might be a fair contender for the title too. He was a one-man force and unlike your belief, he has taken wickets everywhere (yes, including the sub-continent).
Hadlee never had the luxury of an awkward Holding, a pacy Roberts or a mesmerising Warne bowling from the other end as Marshall and McGrath had.
Also, another great bowler could be Imran who used to single-handedly bowled his side to victory on dead pitches.

I didn't see Holding in his peak so I won't comment on him.
