I was only working after school, so I could only put in like an hour a day, but it took about 3 weeks to do everything. It is pretty hard when you first get started, but as you start to mess around and practice everything starts to get easier. This was one of the first projects I worked on in Max.

this was great for a home computer. im sure you didnt have as much time as they did making the original intro. there is som much going on that it took an hour to render each frame and with 30 fps on a 20 second clip thats 600 hours to render the intro. And there is like 40 some layers of animation in it (dont quote me on that number i could be completly off)
