Good video but a few revisions:

1). Definately soak the needle in rubbing alcohol for a bit.

2). Hold the needle close to but not on the flame to avoid it getting weakened and possibly causing it to break during the piercing.

3). Slide in your ring/stud/gauge in IMMEDIATELY after you've made the hole in your ear. This is easiest by simply holding the ring/stud/gauge behind your needle then following it through the hole. You cannot change or take out the piercing for a month, and turn it daily.

I was shaking when I pierced my ear (second hole) yesterday. I only wanted only one second hole though. At first, I had to wear a needle in my ear and put my old braces wax on the end of it to prevent it from stabbing me in the back of my ear. Bad advice. If you're going to pierce yourself at home, at least do it safely. Get all disposable equipment. It's cheap, like a few dollars. But don't come whining to a piercer when it's crooked, embedding, or rejecting. You won't get much sympathy. Don't fuck around with body modification unless you know what you're doing.

@daniel10mex yeah it hurts less, but it also makes it harder for the needle to go through. doing that for lobes is alright if you're gunna do it yourself, but for any cartilage piercing you should never do it, because the cartilage gets so hard it's super hard to get the needle through, and isn't safe either.

You sorta need something in your ear for about six weeks or else it'll close REALLY fast, my girlfriend pierced her ear with a clothes pin once and then when she wanted to put an earring in it she took the pin out and dropped the back of the earring on the floor and in the time it took her to find the back it had already closed up.
