In a way, I do feel sorry for those musicians, me being a musician who makes/produces music, I would be hurt if I were to be in that circle, but I understand what you are trying to say. Unfortunately, this is the only way of them promoting themselves, they mass send email to everybody, the only thing I can suggest is to give a little symphoty by listening to their songs and read how they are arranging their songs, then tell them what you think via a message.
