Regine has set the standards too high to the point that a number of generations will pass by to look for the next Regine Velasquez. She has the talent, the name and the beauty. It's going to be hard to replace her.

It's sad that the majority of my fellow Americans were robbed of the chance to experience Regine at her prime. Even with loads of talent and being very beautiful, America wasn't ready (and still isn't) and accepting of an Asian singer. America is still is very discriminatory towards Asians in the music industry, even to those who are more than capable like Regine. I wish Oprah, Ellen, et al would have her on their show like they did for Charice.

ohh...wag magagalit ha? idol ko rin si regine....kaso sabi nga ng mga foreign friends ko na 1st time marinig c regine, tunog "bata" daw c regine pag naghi-hit ng high notes, sounds like michael jackson noong jackson 5 pa siya.....well, may point ata....medio weird when you hear a lady in her late 30's who sounds like a screaming child....pero no doubt, only regine can do what she does...no question about it.....magpaka-objective lang minsan di ba?

@victoriousvaughn actually their opinions are pointless...it's a genuine woman's voice...our voice is our instrument...kanya kanya ng tunog..never compare a piano to a violin...pwede lang tau magcompare ng piano to piano for their sound quality...the same sa voice...ung dynamics, delivery and all other musicality aspects...pero pagdating sa tone or timbre...hindi dapat kinukwestion...dahil kanya kanya tau ng preference sa tunog

@victoriousvaughn addenda: di ba young michael jackson ang tamang batayan ng pagbirit lalo na halos sabay ang panahon nila ni regine nun kaya influence ni mj ang standards sa paghit ng high notes...hindi tulad nung mga bago ngayon ...puro daya...plus asian's character is soft (refer to rizal's comparison of filipinas and european girls) compare to western girls who prefer their voice to sound tough and big...may other asian singers other than regine na mas matinis at manipis pa ang voice..

@davidmaren2000 No other young singer in this generation can reach Regine's voice when she was still younger. Jonalyn Viray can almost do it though, but not quite. A few notes more maybe. Charice may also have a wide vocal range but her voice and Regine's are obviously different.
Regine has set the standards too high to the point that a number of generations will pass by to look for the next Regine Velasquez. She has the talent, the name and the beauty. It's going to be hard to replace her.

Charice is for popularity and Regine is super vocal and lung power and the best female vocalist i have ever heard. . . Ask Charice and she will tell you that she cannot hit the range of regine. . . listen to some of Charice' songs here in YouTube, you will notice that the key is lower than that of the original . .. i have ears also for music, peace!

it feels close to heaven each time i heard regine's voice... Regine, would you want to consider wrapping an album similar to what celeste legaspi had before? something like "Bagong Plaka, Lumang Kanta"... this would somehow give the children or the younger generation to have the privilege of listening to your golden voice.......hats off to you regine!

It's sad that the majority of my fellow Americans were robbed of the chance to experience Regine at her prime. Even with loads of talent and being very beautiful, America wasn't ready (and still isn't) and accepting of an Asian singer. America is still is very discriminatory towards Asians in the music industry, even to those who are more than capable like Regine. I wish Oprah, Ellen, et al would have her on their show like they did for Charice.
At least she has the respect of industry legends.
