well this is a little strange change of topics for me as my surfing is concerned but you have a few good points but one question what were you doing before you made this (no offense) but you are not bored are you. i assume that you dont pose questions like this all the time because that would be a little overbearing for most people. oh yeah and good luck on your answer
i (as a *cough*single*cough* christian woman) want a man who makes me feel safe, and comfortable. Someone who loves me the way jesus loved the church. who will respect me as a person, and let me submit to him in the biblical sence of the word. A man who makes himself worthy of respect. A Loving, tender husband, and a someday patient father. Thats what defines a man in my eyes. Everything else?...superfluous.
I like your honesty. Men are posers. Deep down every man has a question from childhood - Have I got what it takes. When do you become a man? How do you know? We all look for validation. We looked for it from dad, if we did not get it there, we look for it from girls, other men, pals.. There is no faking it. Old testament Adam failed in his role, he folded when Eve sinned - he whimped out. Then he picked a fig leaf to cover his shame and men have been doing that ever since.
yeh and if we arent fathered properly then we will never know what a man is supposed to be like or a father is supposed to be towards his kids...im reading a good book by john eldredge "way of the wild heart" good read...
Tommy, There is an increasing amount of reading on this subject. I was fortunate enough to go to Colorado and attend John Eldredges 4 day boot camp. It was a fantastic time and since then it has been a real time of discovery.
Also recommended: Manhood, Biddulph; Why Men hate going to church, Murrow; Epic, Eldredge; (Read most of Ransomed Hearts stuff); Raising a modern day knight, Lewis;
Men need to stop worrying about the stereotypes like being a gym rat, being a suave player that always is wooing women, or has a 6 figure income. Instead think about what YOU want in life, not as a man but as a unique person. Live your life to your wants and desires and you will enjoy it a lot more than if you try going for an ego rush (attempting at) living what the media deems as masculine. (And yes, women do have stereotypes that are unrealistic as well.)
As far as what women want - I think women between the age of 17 and 25 don't really know what they want and it is a tough time. I really think women just really wants someone who will truly care, who will be committed and someone who will really listen.
I don't think I have enough room to respond. I'm a woman who has always worked and I make more $ than my husband, but he is still the head of the household in my mind and the profession he is in does not lend itself to a large salary or good benefits per se.
He is also much more patient with our kids than I am so the arrangement we have works for us - I think you have to work it out with your significant other - God brings the right people together to complement each other.
