  • yeah, track days are expensive here in the US. Liked to go back to taiwan regardless sometime and take a long vacation. of course id bring my beloved ducati.

  • my bike can beat a ...... nothin is that special ?

  • the bikes have helmets :|

  • I'm 3 hours from Laguna Seca, and 2 hours from Infineon Raceway. Piece of shit though since they don't allow individual track day uses.

If I gather some buddies together for a day there, it still costs some $8000.

    :(

  • wanna hear about something awesome?

Some Moped tuners in America got in good with the owners of this old race track and permission to start racing on it. They then teamed up with the guys at Polini USA (major performance parts brand) and got there sponsorship. They got Go-Pro Cameras and a good live streaming setup and started The "Polini Races"

The races mainly evolve around old school pedal start mopeds but they also open the track to pocket rockets, go karts, go peds, and even pit bikes.

  • i bet your looking at young guys..lol

  • im not sure how big go kart tracks are in the US and canada or even taiwan but in australia even on the international go kart track near my house there is no way you could even get a bike over 60 on that thing without having to slow for a corner so im not sure how you would race around on one..post a vid i would like to see it..

  • I already have a few vids. The track that boorman drifts around was originally a go kart track.

  • yeah i checked out a couple of vids of the track its twice as wide as my local ..i guess there its possible but i went past the track today and yeah theres no chance of getting out of first gear plus its extremely narrow so i dont think you could even drop knee around it .you could take a scooter on it as im sure they would be more flickable and steady at low speeds threw corners but my track bike would be useless there i think i will stick 2 the creek for my track days.thanks for the reply tho

  • i saw u on tv with charley boorman lol

  • So right, we have a little go-kart track here in China. The boss lets me ride it for about 20cents (US dollars) a lap! It's so cheap because he doesn't have to do any repair of my bike or pay for fuel. Track is a bit small, and would not be any fun on anything over a 250, longest straight you can only do about 70 kmh, but it is fun for practicing slow speed knee down stuff.

  • "American tracks are too afraid of being sued to let someone use their track"

there's a term for that in their own language:

    WOOSE

Although I know a few tracks there where you can ride till you get 70 yo or run out of petrol, whichever first.

  • Cheapest track day in UK i've seen is £42 or £79 for the weekend.

  • Ya SYM is know more for their Scooters.

  • that's a pretty good idea there M13 !!

  • yea theres a good training track by my place thats $10 a day per bike

then theres a pro track thats $25 a day per bike but it weeds out the noobies, lets ya get some good 15 lap race speed sessions in without worrying about too much traffic

  • lmao i hav tracks in australia(south) $20 a day way cheaper that wat u guys r saying

  • Awesome! I want that...

  • you really have to respect those guys for having such a diverse range of bikes with no egos. our local track is full of ricer cager kids..but meh means the twisties are free for me right :D

  • Ya i wish it was like that in America, like other people were saying because of insurance and whatever else there's no way they would let scooters on a go cart track. Best i know in southern California $150 to $200 to go riding for the day. And people wonder why motorcycles speed on public streets.

  • Wow not bad! A track not far from here.. I looked at their prices and it is $600 :o..

  • Yeah we have little tracks in the area...the irony is they are further away than the full on race tracks.

The closest thing to my house is Laguna Seca but you can only do 4 or 5 days a year there and it's 300 bucks a pop :p

  • Skill over speed =)

  • Go kart track idea doesn't work here, insurance won't cover motorcycles. I've asked 5 different ones now. Owners usually say its not worth it to try. Thats part of the reason why track day cost so much.

  • lol nmv, thats a yamaha, the kr 150 looks like it a little bit in the front, kawasaki wayyyyyyy better though

  • 0:03 kawasaki kr150 on the far right (red one) it was my first bike and i have to say after riding the 250, the 150 2stroke is way better, faster stronger lol but it is alot better than the 250, more accel, sharper turning, lighter and funner

  • :) Nice video, unfortunately I don't have a track nearby.

I live in Toronto and the closest track is still 1 hour+ drive away.

  • damn, your bike looks so much more well taken care of then others, but I guess race bikes are just for racing? not for show there. anyway cool vid. eye opener

  • Lots of race bikes look pretty ratty, since they get crashed and put back together.

  • that'll never work in the US because were a bunch of sueing panzies... because everything has to be as safe as possible, they won't allow any kind of track day without waivers and emt on the spot..

We do have organizations that do track days, but it's usually about $150 to $250 per event to do some hot laps...

  • Costs 6 dollars for 20 minutes on that track.

  • the problem is most western countries already are or are becoming nanny states, and go out of their way to protect you from yourself, and its made amateur racing expensive.

I am looking into pocket-bike racing though, heh! :D

  • That white scooter at 1:09 is a complete rip off of a Piaggio Fly!! what the fuck! haha and i would know cause i got the fly, and people who know of the fly would too :)

  • Hey. How do you upoad a video, and cover up the numberplate?

  • some go kart tracks already in uk allow mini motos to race on them

  • Lets see a M13 racing video!

  • Good advice in principle.

But they don't/wont allow that here.

the track would have to do risk assessments, which would cost time/money.

then they'd have to alter their liability insurance, which would probably be cost inhibitive.

Then they would have the worry of the compensation culture.

  • Ye, while i was watching that i was thinking the second i ask someone if i can use their go kart track for afew laps they would get all saftey inspector on me.

By the way, good vid Mordeth, keep it up.

    - Sheep

  • Just sign a waiver. Then all insurance etc.....is moot.

  • Common misconception, you cannot waive your liability in injury / death.

    You're either liable or not.

    (English law)

don't forget I worked in this industry for 11 years.

  • mmmm, that's if they even agree to offer a waiver. It would be a great idea to use go cart tracks though. mainly because there are not any real racing tracks where I live.

  • mordeth is that your kawa with the red and black?

  • Yes.

  • thats a sexy ass bike baby

  • I'd recomend supermoto for anyone who wants to start cheap track days, because in the UK alot of go kart tracks won't let your ride, reasons being our good outdoor track is used by karters to practice and "test" monday-friday with races held on saturday and sunday, but also they won't do it for insurance purposes, there are lesser tracks (not international) that do track days from 50 to about 90 pounds. still cheap and arguably more fun, if a bit more expensive.

  • i love when i see your bike in the vids. its pretty sexy.

    nice vid :)

  • The UK sucks if you are poor like me + there is so much bullshit & red tape, even for dirtbikes. I just got a section 59 for riding in a disused quarry. If I get caught doing anything anti-social on a bike in the next 12 months the cops can impound my bike.

  • wow what the hell...

  • Hehe, dont fucking ride alone kid! ;)

    Kidding

  • Holy shit! Thats unlucky man. Theres so much unused private land over here, id love to get a cheap MX bike and do some offriading in the country side but theres no where around here to go, so il stick to speeding on the streets for my adrenalin rush.

  • Yea but the way I see it the chances of getting caught twice in a year does exist, but it's slim.

And you pay £100 to get your bike back.

That means it's costing you £8 a month (if caught)

Can you find fun for that price anywhere else?

I keep plenty of mud on my number plate and if the cops show up there's plenty of small lanes where they can't fit *shrug*

  • Hurting or killing someone in traffic because of an accident will cost you alot more than a track day do

  • and this is relevant why?

  • I'm just saying that it might be more clever to race on a track and pay abit more money and not risk other peoples lives.

Not saying that you're stupid, only that it is stupid to race on the streets

  • Nobody said anything about racing on the streets? He said he was offroading on private land in a disused quarry.

  • No wait, yes he did, my apologies. But you confused me by replying to MY comment not his comment.

    Which notifies me, not him.

  • oh my bad then, I didn't read alot of comments below so I got it wrong..again sorry.

  • When you put it that way it's not so bad...I thought they crushed your bike lol I have learned from my mistake of helping my friend pick his bike up, that's how I got caught. So now it's every man for himself.

What happens if you get caught more than twice a year? Does it still cost the same to get the bike back?

  • Not sure, just look up the section 59 laws.

IS your bike road legal? Green laning is perfectly legal and great fun.

  • Will do cheers. Yes my bike is all road legal & have done a few green lanes but most are full of hikers & mountain bikers all giving us grief but we have as much right to use the roads as them.

  • I don't know where you are geographically but if you look PROPERLY you'd be suprised at how much there is.

I live in one of the worst counties in England and I fit a 260km route last Sunday.

Funny, i heard a statistic about east sussex:

358 miles of bridleways and 36 miles of byways.

And the horses moan at us? Yes we're SUPER polite to them, stop, engine off etc.

I tell them "if your horse is skittish then bugger off onto your bridleways, you've got 10x what we've got!"

  • I know here in Calgary there is an organization here called AMRA. Every wednesday they offer a 125cc bike, full leathers, and from 5PM until dusk you ride the go-kart track. It is an amazing time for only $40. Good practice for getting your knee down too!

  • oh ya i want to go to a track and ask if i can race a scooter lol did i mention i have a padlock holding my helmet on my head

  • My last track day cost $200 for the whole weekend.

  • more than that in the UK for one day.

  • totally agreed

at my local gokart track they don't allow bikes which sucks, and on big track about 70miles away from where i live it costs about 100$ on weekends and 70-80$ on work days

  • good tip

  • I usually just go to a regular track but I wanted to try this out and I called my Mountasia and they're allowing me to bring my CBR 1000RR out onto their little go-kart track. Can't wait.

  • have a good crash

  • Glad to see you're concerned. Thanks.

  • LOL that's awesome. So you'll be in first gear all the time?

  • Hahaha, just about. There's one straight-away in the whole track.

  • Just saying that the more bends, the smaller the bike to have fun.

    Have fun if you do.

  • just lookin at the young guys huh ...

  • ...and then some.

  • most of the go kart tracks i know where i live are slick tracks maybe if i wanted to drift on my scooter that would be ok

  • My brother dose track days with NESBA. Track days with them are around $250 per day.

  • Good advise M3.

Thought saying your middle name would be a bit strange...

  • this was a good vid, i dont want to be mean,

but i dont like babes. they are just the same

to me, no difference until they start to grow

like 4 or 5 years, i know it will be different with

my soons, but for now i dont like them, lol.

  • Flu season or just M13's early morning voice? :o) M13's too cold to race. :P

  • about $150 for a track day down here in california.

gone with veloce track days and "lets ride! track days" one was $150 and the other $145

I dont think thats too bad, and I paid $1000 for my track bike (fully race built 1998 cbr 600 f3) and it was built by my boss so I know its quality.

you can start out racing pretty cheap, just have to do it right, my friend had a basically brand new frank thomas xti suit ($500 new) that I got for $150.

  • instead of taken my gsxr 750 k7 onto a go-cart track better off lookin on google or searching for good twisty roads near u! like a couple tracks near me my favorite is Nelson Ledges Race Track :) nice vid

  • This is something I want to do should I ever afford a Miata and have the time and cash. But I doubt it. :(

You say there are tracks in Canada? There aren't TOO many near southern Ontario, AFAIK. There's Mosport, I guess. And maybe Cayuga, if they still have a real track and not just an oval/drag strip.

  • Damn, mordeth makes me wanna ride even more >_> Only 2 grand more to get a ninja 250 D: And 2 more years lol.

  • oh poor u, i should be getting mine before this newyears!! why are u too young or somethin?

  • Lmao lucky. Yea, i'm only 14 :/

  • oh, u poor thing ;(. I am 19 and already drive stick, should be a great experience!!

  • Nice, man. So you're getting a ninja 250?

  • yeah, i learned to drive "stick" at 13 :) now 15.

  • That's good advice Mordeth. That's what I plan on doing with my midbike.

  • 125cc 2t's are brilliant for racing around.... But that's the only place i'd ever use a 2t

  • You mean 125 twins right?

  • 2t = 2 stroke...

  • reminiscing by m13 it seems?

  • Neat. :O

  • cheeking out the boys M13?

  • i like how you just walk around touching and talking about their bikes. here and america people would not let you do that =] kinda cool how you do that lol. they like completely ignore you.. mordeth=ninja racing reviewer

  • cool idei about the go-cart tracks, but i thing i'll stick to dirt lol

  • Wow Mordeth, you have reached the popularity level where people start posting "first" many times! And good video of course, I want to get a bike soon!

  • I guess the Black&Dark Red bike is yours?

    Wich model is it? :S

    I like it.

Mom, can i have a bike like that? [Lame]

  • Kawasaki Ninja 650R (Also known as the EX650R)

  • Not bad advice at all if someone is interested in getting into racing.

No need to go and get a screaming machine to learn the skills.

  • Are most go kart tracks there not slick tracks? The majority of them around my place are that really slippery concrete, not asphalt. That is a great idea though, never thought of taking the bike to a go kart track lol

  • Yeah but people here in America are so concerned about liability that I doubt that they would let me on their tracks...but its worth a shot... A gokart track would be perfect for a little super moto fun;D

  • yeah i was thinking the same thing

  • there's a high chance your son would ride bikes. would you allow him to race? let's say he just got his license.

  • He'll be racing long before he gets his license.

  • i wish i raced when i was young

  • get that kid a bike!!!!....be the parent so few of us had ;D

  • yeah im bored as hell .. this is what I need.. exept increased by like 2 hours.

  • How come they tend to race scooters over there over bikes?... Never really seen that anywhere else

  • nicccccce
