The computer its self could hardly mean anything as far as playing the video, although it did get you here, but anyways it all depends on your video card. I have an 8mb video card with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit edition and I can play 720p videos just fine. As for the 1080p videos, around 1.6 frames per second (horribly laggy). So if you want to watch great quality videos, go with a greater video card, example: A 512mb video card would more than likely handle a 1080p video. Hope I helped.
i tested uploading a few 1080 videos i had, a fighter jet racing along the beach and a duck in a pond. just small ones as they take up some space. i notice the quality gets dropped no matter what, so no use uploading the best quality stuff. i also see it doesn't handle my PAL region HD camera that well and puts audio out of sync and framerate seems to be slow.
i just showed this video to some guys at work on my 22" monitor, and noticed the quality is not as impressive once full screened due to being 720p and lower bitrate. has anyone tested uploading a 1080 video to youtube? i have a 1080 camera and could test this, although i have no idea what format to convert the video to from MTS container file. any ideas guys, and gals ??
i'm impressed how im in australia and yet the streaming of this played back flawlessly. im not sure how big the file is. but this could definitely lead the way to streaming movies quicker than people first imagined.
On my Athlon 1,4ghz and 512MB RAM I cannot watch this film fluently. Windows Task Manager while watching the movie, which loads the whole show 100% CPU usage. The initiative is good, but for users with less equipment - redundant.
I find the "normal" version of clips uploaded in 1280x720 to be of even worse quality than before... HD is cool, but I'd like to get a good picture in normal version too. If anyone has tips on encoding to share, msg me :)
Very nice, but the new Creative Vado HD has many advantages at the same price. For one the new Vado HD has twice the memory (8GB for ful two hours of HD video), a true HDMI output and an included HDMI cable. 2 inch LCD instead of 1.5 inch. User removable lithium ion battery. Available December 2008.

Wow! What did you do to make the "play in HD" option available to everyone?? I'm getting ready to load up some Flip Mino Hd footage. does it automatically give the option to play back in hd?? or does everyone have to copy and paste that crazy code EVERY TIME you want to watch it in hd??
They fixed it. High-res video that isn't 16:9 has the option to play in High Quality. HD content that is in 16:9 gives the option to play in HD. Hooray
So you're saying i can load footage straight to Youtube using the flip camera software and it will give the "HD" option without having to load it in the youtube uploader?
The problem I'm having is when I upload video to YT from my Flip Mino HD using the FlipShare software, it looks crap! During playback on YT, the video appears grainy, pixelated, and not fluid. There's no 'HD' option or 'High Quality' option. Flip's Tech Support gave me the brush-off. Any thoughts?
I have a Vimeo account with true HD upload and play. Sorry to say, they have the "one-upmanship" in the wide-screen smooth-play department. YouTube should take some lessons from Vimeo even though it is a paid hosting service.
This video is extremely choppy on my system also, yet similar videos on Vimeo are butter-smooth and look great.
Let the video load up completely and then play it. Streaming of HD video won't ever be perfect. But yes, Vimeo is ahead of Youtube in terms of quality.
Yes it does. The video card has *everything* to do with *everything* you see. That's why its other name is "display adapter" or "display card". Without it or integrated graphics (one or the other), nothing will ever be displayed on your screen.
Try closing down programs in the background and closing any programs that are currently downloading something. The video may've streamed corrupted or your system could be working hard. (Also, try to view it in another browser. (Chrome or Safari))
Im on a 8600GT and 2gb and its fine, that has to be another issue, a 8600 should easy run HD even thoe it is a very low end graphics card in ranks of perfomance
This looks quite good, but I've noticed that while the resolution is good, the bitrates are still too low so if there's a lot of movement you will get very noticeable blocking artifacts.
the problem is that FLV slows down the computer when it plays back in higher quality, thats why I really don't mind the youtube compression. that would be great if adobe would find a way to make the video stable.
