Has anyone nad any chance catching a laser radar?

i got one a month ago. Its a very good detector. I have a Whistler also. I set them side by side and the STI gives fewer false alarms and a little more warning. If one drives in Virginia one must have the STI, its your only defense to police state tactics used in Virginia these days. Virginia has a very elaborate and extensive system and uses many police from many groups to track speeders, its far beyond safety issues and pure state greed designed to make money, just ask anyone driving I-77.

It also means that if you use POP only, that in court, the person you ticketed probably will win because you used a radar designed to only estimate a speed, not accurately tell from one shot.

So you'll need to back up the estimate with a normal type of radar band, and by then the vehicle will most likely have slowed already, and you will not be able to ticket them.

Unless of course they're speeding really really bad of course, in which case an estimate would probably be fine.

Yeah, these things are useless, just like traffic cops are "making the highways safer for everyone and saving lives" by handing out tickets to people going 10 to 20 MPH over the posted speed limit. I have a clean driving record because of Beltronics and my STi Driver.

11.5 miles on a straight level road, a few miles out on a twisty back road I believe. It is also undetectable.

It wont matter how far it will pick up a laser, you still need to get a jammer. bc- laser is to quick simple as that. sure it can once in awhile bump off of a car infront of you and you might have a chance then.. but you still need a Jammer for tottal protection.

why do you say that? I mean the one advantage the sti has over the v1 is that its spectre III proof but if you dont live in virginia/washington dc theres no point of having a RDD proof RD, and it shows in the GOL tests that the V1 has the best laser detection and radar detection of the other RD's.

God your an idiot! K40/calibre is over priced garbage period! K40's performance is nowhere near the sti's and the sti is not detectable by any RDD unlike the k40.

The sti is not bigger then the rx65, x50 ext. mount the unit high on the windshield above the rear view and you will not even notice it (of course you will need a $10 hardwire kit (rolleyes)!

K40 is not undetectable. Go to the k40 website and open your eyes... vg-2 undetectable... and that's it... not spectre, which is the one that sets the sti apart (and since my last post, the 9500ci as well). Radar detectors are only illegal in 2 places in the USA, so unless you live in one of those, there is no reason you would get "picked up for it".

sorry I take forever to get back on this thing mustangowner, but I want to let you know that the sti is spectre 4 undetectable and as you apparently NOW admit (or 3 month ago anyway ha) k40 is not.

So like I said a year ago lol, sti is the ONLY completely undetectable radar detector.

Just got mine. Awesome. I had an RX-65, I sold it and bought the Sti. Saved me couple times already. The cops were I live really have nothing better to do than hand and speeding tickets.
