even though i appreciate that it take great conditioning of the hands to break many boards most people do not realize that these breaking boards are carefully selected for their grain properties...these are cut from a wide plank with the grain running along the breaking line..the boards are only hit in one direction always with the grain it is easy to break a few boards like this ..try going against the grain

Oh, and I just noticed that you use spacers. Dude, come on. Spacers make it exponentially easier to break the boards. The only resistance you have is from the first board and then the force of that board snapping breaks the rest, not the force of your blow.

Hmmm, really? Because the current WORLD RECORD for board breaks (without spacers) is 8 one inch boards. So I'm really doubting 8 is "just power no technique." Here's a nice little quote for you:

You have to use special boards, not the one you'd use for building a nice shelf. Plus you gotta absolutely make sure you cheat with leverage, meaning there should be mini spacers at both ends of the board, so it's like a bridge. If the board were laying flat like a rug on another surface (so flat back to flat back) you wont be breaking anything. Third, hit the exact center 2 utilize that secret leverage by the mini spacers. Those giant blocks holding them are also the same concept of leverage.

in my country (new zealand) we use dressed pine (not rough sawn) same as you use in building houses, shelves etc. idea is to get pieces with wide grain and no knotes. also make sure its nice and dry

where i trained we never used spacers, we just laid them flat on top of eachother. more difficult that way. tho if u want to make it even harder, try breaking AGAINST the grain instead of with it.

There is only one place that you can hit on a re-breakable board that will make it easy to break, whereas a wood board can snap almost anywhere, so it improves with accuracy.

But depending on the mechanism that keeps the 2 halves together they could wear down over extended use.

i agree with sasuke, breaking boards isnt any incredible feat. ive taken 7 styles of martial arts over the past 13 years, all of which taught me different striking techniques, but confident just about anyone with half a brain could break 2 boards with no problem.
