Tried it with my 2009 lancer ex mx here in the philippines... It actually worked!!! trick is first gear in the manual mode,, reach the 5000 rpm then switch to cvt drive mode.. i'll post a video to prove... hehe

I know it has nothing related with this video but I wanted to have help from anyone who knows so much about Lancer and its mechanics...

I have a Mitsubishi Lancer EX 1.5L MT and it's so awesome. But one day when I wanted to rev with it I heard a strange sound, when the RPM reaches 5000 and only 5000 it makes a sound of someone trying to have air while being choked. It's not so loud but it's so clear, the performance of the car isn't affected but I'm afraid it's something could make serious probs

This car had a  CVT gearbox just like a scooter. D all the way at max RPM up to 200 km/h. That's cool! :)

a) The car is heavily modded (at least +30HP)

b) He was on a slope

There's no way a stock Lancer 2.0 would do 7.8s 0-60 and 15.7s for the 1/4mile?, it is more like low to mid 8s for the 0-60 and low 16s for the 1/4 mile.

0-100MPH in 17.8s and 0-125MPH in 30s?? haha that needs like a +200HP engine.

@alawadhi3000 its because the lancer uses CVT gearbox, which has only 1 variable gear. he can exploit the CVT system to run continuously on high rev (peak horsepower) all the time, by selecting "first gear" and change to Drive mode just before the redline. which is why the car accelerates soooo fast.

When I commented in the first place I took into the account the CVT, My cousin owns a 2.0L Lancer with the CVT, It did 0-60 in 8.5s and the quarter in around 16.5s.

Even the Lancer GTS with the 2.4L engine which have around +25HP can't do 0-100 in 17.8s or 0-125 in 30s !!,

Even the manual did 0-100 in 22.5s with a professional driver!, you will tell me that his car is 5s faster? haha

@alawadhi3000 I'm not sure if you are referring to the 2.0L manual, but this guy with a stock GTS pulled 0-100 in less than 22.5 secs with a 2.4L (09' Lancer GTS 0-60 0-117 under youtube). Also, the 09+ GTS only have 16hp over the 08 models. Car and Driver had the 09 car in quarter mile 15.9 with manual.

If a GTS does it in 22.5s according to C&D (or a little better according to your referred video), there's no way a 2.0L will do it in 17.8s !!

0-100 in 17.8s needs +200HP for a 3000lb car.

@alawadhi3000 I agree with you for making your point. It is also why I mentioned that Car and Driver had the 09 at 15.9secs in the quarter mile. An 08 is inferior to the 09 in hp and torque, so as you said it's impossible for a CVT 08 to out perform an 09.

It won't matter much, maybe 0.1s for the 0-100KM and 0.2s for the 0-400metres.

It won't make the Lancer 2.0L go from 0-200Km in less than 30s.

@alawadhi3000 Then again, depending on what state you are in, your cousin's car may be a PZEV-rated 2.0 liter models, which are rated at 143 hp. In this case, you are correct to say that the 09 models do have 25hp over it. I am not certain if the PZEV-rated 2.4L models would have less than 168hp, however.

BTW my car does the 1/4 mile in 15.7s and 0-200 in more than 30s.

@cgbama nope, this car is a CVT, only has 1 gear, which means its faster on Drive mode. the paddle shift '6 speed' is just a gimmick (and slower actually). BTW this is the only CVT car i'd love to drive lol.
