there are huge differences from the original story, but it also is just impossible to make a realygood movie from Lovecraft without changing some things.

Lovecragt is great, but just not working as movies, so you have to change a few things...

I read this story. A grave digger get's stuck in a crypt for the night and an angry spirit he somehow wronged in life torments and harasses him. It was actually pretty boring, definitely my least favorite of Lovecrafts stories. I can't seem to recall the name of the story either. Probably because it's such a forgettable read.

No elder gods, no mythos, no playing with madness... just a ghost story that you'd expect to hear around a camp fire to put the kids to sleep.

Lo he dibujé, lo animé, lo monté, incluso el cutre doblaje (grititos y demas efectos de sonido) los hice yo -se nota-.

El cambio de la historia se debe precisamente a la ausencia de diálogos y voces en off. Tampoco quería recurrir a cartelitos tipicos del cine mudo. Así que para enfatizar algunas escenas (es decir para que se entendiese) cambié la historia.

The main char gets trapped in the crypt

To get out, he must reach a window, so he makes

a stair made out of coffins, with the one containing

the evil man on top.

He reaches the window, but his feet are trapped in the coffin, feeling

a pain compared to that of chipped wood trough the skin.

Barely makes to a friend's home, who calls a doctor.

the doctor checks the wounds, and they look like made by claws or something.

@Panchosama2 the doctor checks back the crypt to discover that the top coffin of the improvised stair is broken with it's contents spared all over the crypt. He discovers the main character saw the evil man's feet to make him enter into the little good old man's coffin. So it's like the evil old man took revenge of this by grabbing the main character from his ankles and piercing his tendons with his fingernails, even after death. All this is confessed by the main char in his deathbed...

Llámame conservador, pero me parece que cambiar el final de la historia la destroza totalmente ya que la priva de su verdadero sentido. En la Cripta, sin su final, no es ni siquiera un relato de el montón. Sé que las adaptaciones no siempre son fáciles y no es nada fácil adaptar a Lovecraft por sus situaciones extrañas constantes, pero creo que la animación pierde mucho con este enorme sacrificio. Aún así no está mal del todo.

Una adaptación no debe ser exactamente igual al original. Bien lo saben todos los directores que llevaron una historia al cine, y mejor ejemplo que La reina de los condenados, basado en la obra de Anne Rice, no hay.

La animación fue genial. Los dibujos son muy acordes con los personajes y muy bien hechos. La única pega es que la parte del final, cuando el viejo despierta, los gritos de dolor del sujeto son demasiado suaves y hacen que el espectador no se crea el horror que siente.

The original Lovecraft tale was was not called into the crypt and the story was very different than the animation shown.

was this supposed to be "in the vault"? it seems different but the general story is the same. even the bloody teeth from where the undertakers tendons were bit and ripped by Asaph. either way, its an excellent flash. loved it.
