You have a great voice, but I have a few very picky criticisms. You said you were going to be singing "hardcore opera", but if that were true, you wouldn't be using a microphone. Opera singers are trained specifically to sing over instruments without external amplification. Another thing is just some of your pronunciations. Other than those little things, a great rendition of a very difficult piece.
It's nice, but not comparable with great opera singers. It's always a problem when you've got an accent 'cause that will sound pretty weird for german ears and also leads to wrong stress of the words for instance. And there is no great performance, I mean, the queen is boiling of hate and anger, she's a fury in this aria! And you're a bit insecure with your high notes. But keep on practising and you will be able to sing this as it's supposed to be sung.
I actually wish I'd heard the first two songs, like Britney or whatever, then watched the faces of everyone around when you hit those high notes in this aria... :-)
That was amazing. I've been playing the violin for quite some time but I want to start singing lessons, it amazes me when I listen to the choir and glee club in our music department sing and you sound good if not better ^_^
Unfortunately I didn't like it at all. You started way too fast, from what it looked like, nerves. And the pianist couldn't keep up. There was a lot of fumbling around for tempo. The two of you just didn't seem to be in sync with one another at alI. I would love to hear you sing this again, in a more controlled setting where we can actually see the pianist and you interacting musically.
The rest of you needs to catch up with your voice which is very mature for your age. :) Keep singing!
Well done! Besides the funny pronounciation of your German and some breathing issues while starting your vibrato - you are a talented singer! Keep on doing this - it seems to be your thing!
well you have really good voice and you have to use it profesionally. but this aria, i think you have to sing little slow. this is allegretto. it has to be little moderato or adagio
You seemed so... hmm.. cocky that I was expecting you to suck! Very good overall!!! You handled those triplets that make others sweat blood with grace. Beware though of those asperities. Good Luck.
You have the high notes and they sound fantastic, but you need to work on the coloratura passages. You're skipping right over half the notes and the lower notes go a bit wonky. Keep working, you'll get there :)
amazing, especially for hi skool. ur one of the few people who at an age like this is abnormally vocally mature to handle an aria like this. i can't wait to see a video of you on youtube in a professional production dressed up as the queen and scaring the s$%^ out of whoever is playing pamina
Oh dear God, this is simply great... How can you hit the F's so easily? I'm speachless!
You have to practice how you pronounce some of the words though ;-) You don't roll on the german R's. But I pressume that you don't speak the language, then you did a pretty good job ;-)
@DareWreck8402 agreed! she also had no character connection whatsoever..pretty voice but no emotion..I felt like she was just a girl singing on a stage...thats what she came across off as and some of the diction needs a bit of work but nice start
I started lessons at the end of my freshman year of high school - and that's when the Caro Mio Ben video was from - June 2006. This was three years later in June of 2009, just after graduation. Thanks for all the wonderful comments!
Hi Rachel...I am an italian girl and I want tell you that you are so ggod to sing! come to italy and you will meet the best great techer in the world!
Sweeeeeet girrrrl! Hopefully I can play opposite you as Sarastro someday in the future. Good luck on your studies! I just finished with all my theory!
You possess a youthful, clear and flexible soprano voice and I enjoyed listening to you very much. I have only one question for you...Why did you choose to introduce the aria with an "apologetic" tone...suggesting that you were going to offer something your listeners had to endure, as opposed to something they would enjoy. If you don't believe COMPLETELY in the quality of the music you're offering, you shouldn't be singing it.
Hold off on the coloratura work as a teenager cause my sister did that and attended Juilliard and now is a mezzo soprano and a house singer at Metropolitan Opera.
I'm used to hearing and seeing some hugely talented kids from the Troy school district, but you are especially gifted. I watched all your videos I could find. You have improved immensly in a short time. Keep up the good work. You have a lovely voice!
@RachelMarie09 you are sooooo good i love to sing myself and i would love to have the confidence to sing in public but i can sing well i wish i could learn that song. How did you learn that song???????????
