Frankie had to be written out because she was stealing the whole Show! If she was caught they would have had to eventually write out others like (Bea) Val Lehman! With the exception of her Red hair and Porkey figuare! Bea and Erica Davidson put a big lag on the whole show!
@MsPerogi They could have leaved it.And chucked the boring karen out and lynn even though they eventually did just not soon enough.I hated the fact frankie only lasted 20 episodes.
@LittleMissJmoo Sure they could have, and probably should have done that. Carol Burns said she did not want to continue filming 2 episodes a Week. Besides The acting contracts for Cell Block H did not pay Residuals. It was a low Budget series! Suppostely deaf women were used for background scenes too. Very Bad! Also I do not remember the original credits listing the contributions of the socity for the deaf of Backburn!
@MsPerogi you make it out like using deaf people is a crime? Back then they had a hard time getting jobs, and being a extra/back ground would still give you a bit of money maybe like $50 each time, or maybe not.. or maybe they did it for free.Im sure they wanted to , and they get their face on tv for a few seconds big deal? Its deaf its not like they're making fun of them, they were giving them a job during the time nobody did
@LittleMissJmoo Helping Deaf people find work is Good! I am not against it! Although at that time many people would have found it shocking that Deaf people were used in a Show carrying a Plot and topic matter like this. Many younger people who remember watching the shows original releases also remember their Parents telling them not to Watch the Show!
If Lynn hasn't been convicted of anything yet, why does she have to wear the uniform? Ole Helen Masters didn't have to......neither does Mrs. Roberts.
@mija2831 Maybe she doesn't have anything to wear. Before she lost the baby, she ran around in that peach colored dress. They could at least take her to a consinement shop where they sell gently worn clothes and buy her some jeans and t shirts.
Oh Frankie.... :(.... I can't stop crying... That stupid pig. That stupid son of a bitch. If this was real... I would have killed that bloody bastard to avenge Frankie.
Love Frankie! But damn Doreen got her killed by falling and then not getting up when she should have! (Though she is still cute). As for Vera, if she is so big on the rules, does she not recognize that there is a thing called lawyer-client privilege? Get the hell out of the room!
I agree with everyone here, Carol Burns is an absolutely brilliant actress, dare I say she was probably too good for a soap, even a fab one like Prisoner. Watching her play Frankie so well I always thought she would probably feel more at home on the stage or on the big screen, she always came across as so virtuosic. Definitely deserves to be internationally known, perhaps the best actress ever to grace the Wentworth set.
seeing frankie and lizzie out of character is SO shocking!! Frankie is really feminine and Lizzy sounds so prim and proper! lol (im crap with names but just look at credits for the actress's names and pop them in the search bar :)
@krystlerita If you see anything else with Carol Burns, even an interview, you'll how right you are. She was nothing at all like Franky, which shows how brilliant she was to play her like she did. She was actually a glamourous, quietly spoken lady.
It was my understanding that Carol Burns wanted to leave due to concerns about the studio's increased filming schedule. Either way, she was one of the best characters of the series. They don't make television like this anymore!
@downwithutube Actually you are correct, in one of her interviews, from memory ONE of the reasons she left was because she took so long to "get into character" filming two episodes a week was too much for her. She described herself as a character actress and spent a long time grooming herself for her roles.

2 deaths in PCBH bothered me the most. Franky's and much later on in the series....Myra's.

It's a shame cos I think Carol Burns was just starting to get into the part and getting quite entertaining.

Franky Doyle must be one of the most entertaining yet tragic characters I've ever seen on a soap, US or overseas
Carol Burns played her beautifully, and I hope she was honored with an award for it
Farewell Franky, we hardly knew ye

Poor Frankie. She was one of the best characters.
She was just misunderstood. They should not have gotten rid of her. Carol Burns is an excellent actress. Has made Frankie such a likeable person.
