@hellonancy16: Lol, that's super funny! I haven't seen your video in like 3months but the way your video is clipped and eddited, those phrases just stood out for me. Lol.. I wish you luck in your university and stay safe. : )
EEEKKKKKKKKKK, you cut your hair!!! I think i would rather have a shot gun...or just a gun.....i don't know. Pepper spray?? ?? BLAH!! Anyway, when are you gonna make another video?
Best advice: Change Country and your pathetic US culture. Why we don't have same problems in EU? :)))) lol.. grew up on MC and Tacco and other fast food shit which is damagingy your brains from childhoood, thats why you have these problems... you have to redefine it from the base, not to buy new defence stuff like peppers sprays and so....
Easier said than done, girl.. When u confront the stabbing scene, you can feel shocked and get affected by the incident... Everyone just loves his/her life. Confronting one person who has knife and who's crazy is not easy..
This is a good video for women who want to defend themselves. It's a tough world out there and the smart thing to do is be prepared. Be safe out there.
Well done.. You left out one very important point. When I worked in security, body guard section, we were taught in training that constant practice results in victory over a opponent in sudden combat situations. You need to build a mental state that reacts "instinctively" and does not hesitate with the question, "what do I do now?". The arm freeing technique and techniques to break choke holds, practice them for a couple of minutes every day of your life. Instinct reaction!
daaaamn...i understand you don't feel safe anymore but going psycho may not be the best way to go at it.u talk with so much ease about stabing someone and things like that.
are you so sure that in those decisive moments, when the adrenaline kicks in and practically your brain shuts down and your natural instincts take over u will be so calm and will control yourself to the extent that u will get to do the things you believe u can do?
Protection and being safe is good, but you're overkilling it.
forget the pepper-spray, carry a stun gun, people are mostly out for themselves these days,of course no-ones gonna step in if something major happens..they just scatter like rats..pretty sad..but true..i hope nothing happens to you though nancy stay safe :D
i am wondering, with the thought of being attacked 24/7 e.g holding a pepper spray 247. Will that make you more prone to attack some one? Since your always on the lookout, always thinking i am going to be attacked. You might take a gesture the wrong way, say a friendly pat on the shoulder and end up spraying them ? Because if you surround yourself with thoughts of being attacked, that pat on the shoulder can be magnified to what its really not
I'm on the defensive side, meaning I am listening to my surroundings, looking around constantly, etc. so I don't think a gesture like that would surprise me. I'm not looking to attack someone...
However, you should try popping out at girls from behind bushes and see how they take it :P JK, don't do that.
after seeing him pull out his knife she should've just hauled ass otherwise she wouldn't have been so easily slashed in the throat. then again she probably didn't anticipate him actually trying to kill her with that knife when she started pissing him off.
I was going to criticize everything you said, but then I read it again and saw the smiley faces...
I think deep down we hope that when danger is imminent someone will be there. It happened for my mom once and gives me a lot of hope in people, but she was lucky. As pessimistic as it sounds, we can't expect people to help us. Therefore, from this realization, we need to not depend on others and do things ourselves... be our own hero.
I just removed my comment. I'm sorry if it offended you in any way. I didn't mean for that to happen. I was only joking but then I should think about other people's feelings before opening my mouth. :) By the way, I think you're super cute!! Hope that made up for it. =P
you're telling me that by unbuttoning that holder for the pepper spray, then sliding the bottle out of the holder is quicker than flipping out a knife? C'mon Nancy.
Would you like to test me? I didn't have a butterfly knife that pops out... I had a knife with so many options that it took awhile to get out.... :D ahaha
Also, I carry my pepper spray in the "ready for action" positions... nozzle to the right... (so I am indeed ready) from when I step out of the door at night until I reach my destination. If I carried a knife like that, I would most likely be arrested.
Oh, I was really creative with my weapons... I used to carry a fork before I had a knife haha.
i read your blog post and i wanted to say, in fairness, i think those "passive" defense tips for women you talk about are also the same tips that a sensible person would give a man. i mean do you expect "safety tips" for men to be a guide on how to break someone's arm or knock someone out? of course you can do as you like, but i don't think it's sexist or whatever to tell women to be safe by avoiding danger, it's the same advice i'd give a man.
sorry, i just realised that that wasn't your blog post but rather just someone else's blog you linked to. i probably wouldn't have said anything in that case since it wasn't directly your opinion but oh well, too late. sorry about that.
you cute

I went to university in Singapore and it's very safe he he.. I used to walk alone on campus at 3 a.m from my lab to my room and felt normal...
Maybe in the U.S it's different. But when I went to Johns Hopkins doing my internship during the summer, I felt normal too...
