For me, No doubt that Hongki have slightly more powerful voice than Yonghwa... Yonghwa also have powerful voice.. but i love them both because they have their own strength.. and their own uniqueness & their own style.. n actually clip for yonghwa is from a variety show.. but if u watch both of them singing live for a performance, i think there's no much differences in terms of their voice strength.. So, for me both of them is the best.. ^_^
@sallurain do you know the definition of a rock band? You cant say totally that FTisland is a rock band. Even you compare them on the western band they are not a rock band. They are ballad type ones. Havent seem any of their song that is a truly rock music.
The song fits hongki, this kind of song is mostly FTisland album release, while Yonghwa is more of a punk pop rock, I guess I have to say that yonghwa is a rocker type while hongki is more of a ballad. Their genre are different.

i really dont think its fair to compare these two in these instances, considering yonghwa's in socks and sauna attire(?) and singing to karaoke on a gag show while hongki is obviously deeply engaged in an emotional live session. both are jjang for me! :D
Yonghwa is not as vocally gifted as Hongki I think (if only considering the nature of their voices), Yonghwa can do well technically, but Hongki is definitely the better vocalist between the two overall.

Yonghwa just used a simple karaoke, an impromptu performance no practice at all.while hongki used a full band with an amplifier and mixer so that the sound will come out beautifully because it was a concert, and for sure he made a lot of practice on it .but if hongki will use to sing it the same with yonghwa i doubt if the outcome of his voice would be like this????!! what do you think????
hongki voice uniqe and powerful with full of emotion u can know the meaning of the song beside the differnt language ( a musican) in the other hand yonghwa singing is modern,simple like kpop or dance group althoug cnblue is a band but u can include them to kpop( for example kim hyun joong lucky guy te first time i hear it i said cnblue style even the sound is similar to yonghwa), but ftisland they are a rock band a real musicans.

Jung Yonghwa was in a talk show, where he had to prepare much, if not a lot, more to entertain people by talking, but Lee Hongki was literally touring around with Im Jae Bum to promote himself and music. So. Not exactly a fair "match."

Hong ki is good if i were to choose i will choose hong ki..He has got more tone of his up and down, add in vibrato and his belting is also very strong and balance.
Yonghwa has his pitch up right, and his level is almost there...to me its a little flat, leave the background music aside as well. Just looking at them sing without the music.
Hong Ki's voice is suited for this song but of course I still love yong hwa that guy can sing in many different ways and can sing more variety of things

Have you even seen Hongki's performance in the Music For All and All for one,,2011? When he sang the song " Distance" live, no one could be better than him for high-key songs like those? Choose another songs in another style , Yonghwa maybe can win !
Easy, no need to argue. The song is more sutiable for Hongki , who is good at that high-key with strong emotion. However, Yong Hwa is good at another style of songs, which Hongki may be not so good at.
To compare both versions is not fair to either one of them it all goes to what's called timbre or the way they hit the keys, this song is supposed to sound good on HK's voice and no because he is more experienced or because he is better is because he has the range for this song, YH's voice is higher so lower keys don't sound as strong as HK's proof of that a piano and a guitar both sound great but some songs sound better on a guitar and some sound better on the piano, google it you'll understand
i love them both...each has their own strengths and weaknesses...Hongki's been longer in the business so i think he's had more vocal training and exposure, he can always hit those notes...
yonghwa on the other hand also have great vocals, can play the guitar/piano really well and a great song writer/composer...

Like them both but more based towards yonghwa coz of voice. There is just something abt his voice, i think it's the husky voice, coz this it wht makes his voice uniqe.
Choosing between Hongki and Yonghwa is the hardest thing for me. They're both my bias. Both handsome, both pours their emotion when they sing and of course both has powerful, husky voice that I really love. They're both awesome, so why compare. They're close in real life, like brothers I don't think competition ever came to their mind, and even if they are asked to compete, they'll still be friends in the end.
Yonghwa's was way better, I could feel the emotion (probably why he's called emotional). Hongki's was well-prepared but lacked depth. Yonghwa's voice was soft and tender but husky in specific parts, I didn't even need to understand what he was saying to realise that it was a cry for love. Hongki's was just vocally stable.
@chyusu I think Hongki really sing deeply. He can always sing with strong emotion. Actually, this song hongki didnt prepare so much also. I really dont think that hongki's emotion is not enough compare with yonghwa's. But Yonghwa can also sing well too. However, I support Hongki's version.

Anyway, the reason why I didn't feel the same "emotion" from Hongki was because he converted the song into a pop-like one. It's great if you can cover a song with your own style but it's even better if the style you changed it to, is maintaining the original emotions intact along with your own spin on it.
@kino1988 Yonghwa sang like a slow-tempo/R&B with his own voice. Different from the original, yet maintaining the same message. I felt as though Hongki lost touch with the song and just sang breathlessly without any direction. He kept going up in pitch, for me that isn't impressive, it just means you can sing really well loudly.
@kino1988 I liked the beginning of Hongki's and had he continued to go in that direction, I would have loved it but the end just became a competition with oneself to see how far one could go with high notes before losing breath. Again, I'm just stating my opinion so don't take it as though I'm ignorantly leaning towards Yonghwa.
@kino1988 From the first time I listened to the song, I knew which one I preferred despite his circumstances (karoake machine, Kwanghee, not the best environment to sing in, etc) but I still listened to them both so as to maintain fairness but if you think about it, it's already very unfair if you compare Hongki's environment to Yonghwa's.

Have you even seen Hongki's performance in the Music For All and All for one,,2011? When he sang the song " Distance" live, no one could be better than him for high-key songs like those? Choose another songs in another style , Yonghwa maybe can win !

Easy, no need to argue. The song is more sutiable for Hongki , who is good at that high-key with strong emotion. However, Yong Hwa is good at another style of songs, which Hongki may be not so good at.

To compare both versions is not fair to either one of them it all goes to what's called timbre or the way they hit the keys, this song is supposed to sound good on HK's voice and no because he is more experienced or because he is better is because he has the range for this song, YH's voice is higher so lower keys don't sound as strong as HK's proof of that a piano and a guitar both sound great but some songs sound better on a guitar and some sound better on the piano, google it you'll understand

i love them both...each has their own strengths and weaknesses...Hongki's been longer in the business so i think he's had more vocal training and exposure, he can always hit those notes...
yonghwa on the other hand also have great vocals, can play the guitar/piano really well and a great song writer/composer...
I love them both, go FTIsland...go CNBlue!!!

Choosing between Hongki and Yonghwa is the hardest thing for me. They're both my bias. Both handsome, both pours their emotion when they sing and of course both has powerful, husky voice that I really love. They're both awesome, so why compare. They're close in real life, like brothers I don't think competition ever came to their mind, and even if they are asked to compete, they'll still be friends in the end.

Yonghwa's was way better, I could feel the emotion (probably why he's called emotional). Hongki's was well-prepared but lacked depth. Yonghwa's voice was soft and tender but husky in specific parts, I didn't even need to understand what he was saying to realise that it was a cry for love. Hongki's was just vocally stable.

@chyusu I think Hongki really sing deeply. He can always sing with strong emotion. Actually, this song hongki didnt prepare so much also. I really dont think that hongki's emotion is not enough compare with yonghwa's. But Yonghwa can also sing well too. However, I support Hongki's version.

But for me, I think it's only quite same.(But he can really imitate Simon D so well LOL) And btw, hongki can imitate yonghwa similarly too not just Yonghwa can do it. But all these are just imitation. The performance of personal style is the most important.

@kino1988 I was merely stating my opinion just as everyone else is here, I don't remember saying that anything of what I said should be taken as facts so calm down. Anyway, the reason why I didn't feel the same "emotion" from Hongki was because he converted the song into a pop-like one. It's great if you can cover a song with your own style but it's even better if the style you changed it to, is maintaining the original emotions intact along with your own spin on it.

@kino1988 Yonghwa sang like a slow-tempo/R&B with his own voice. Different from the original, yet maintaining the same message. I felt as though Hongki lost touch with the song and just sang breathlessly without any direction. He kept going up in pitch, for me that isn't impressive, it just means you can sing really well loudly.

@kino1988 I liked the beginning of Hongki's and had he continued to go in that direction, I would have loved it but the end just became a competition with oneself to see how far one could go with high notes before losing breath. Again, I'm just stating my opinion so don't take it as though I'm ignorantly leaning towards Yonghwa.

@kino1988 From the first time I listened to the song, I knew which one I preferred despite his circumstances (karoake machine, Kwanghee, not the best environment to sing in, etc) but I still listened to them both so as to maintain fairness but if you think about it, it's already very unfair if you compare Hongki's environment to Yonghwa's.

Second I can see where you are coming from but I guess I'm used to the way Hongki sings...and I don't think he's singing in this way because he in "competition with oneself". That's actually how he lets his emotions flow...and if you watch more of his performances or hear him live you really get where I'm coming from. yong hwa's was an impromptu performance..he was asked to sing duet with kwanghee using what... minus one? while hongki's was rehearsed and well prepared with his band...so yes, hongki's version is better...considering the consequences.
but hey, both are great vocalists. just a matter of personal preference.
