  • Wow

  • @yuemusicc The t5 runs around $2,500.00

  • Any t5 players have problems with feedback? How can I reduce the hollow body resonating feedback issue?

  • What song did you play when you played the bridge humbucker snap and twang? I'd like to learn that.

  • @JackEOS7D same!

  • my montage sounds nothing like my t5....but to be honest i like the montage better for what i do!

  • Lol I can't help but notice they're advertising a guitar that takes on the tone of the rig it's set up into... xD

  • how much is this guitar..the taylor t5?

  • Ahem, so what kind of humbucker is that? Looks sort of like a lipstick.

  • @digger411digger411 indeed, it's called lipstick humbucker

  • I have a guitar, I don't know where to put my quarter.

  • Nice guitar with useful qualities...props for sure

But don't market it to me with the "LA clean tone" I avoid that chorussy/compressor tone like the AIDS virus....it's worse than AIDS because more people are infected with that corny sound.

  • Thanks for showing your pedals for half the video instead of the guitar, guys.

  • That guitar sounds like it's made of plastic. what a crappy sound

  • @lauraslook Why do you go on every T5 video and post how "bad" it sounds?

  • lol @ 2:00

Guy 1: "that body sensor is voiced a lot higher than what the speaker can deliver"

    Guy 2: (With a confused look)...right...

  • this sounds good, but if you want something cheaper, get the montage. it rocks. i can get a very warm tone or a very crunchy tone. i love it

  • what a kick ass guitar

  • What is the line 6 rig this guy is using? What about the rig used by bald guy? Both sound really good - at least on YouTube. Where did this video come from?

  • @mitscan The guy on the right is using a Line 6 "Flextone" amp. I don't think they're made anymore. Probably find one on ebay though. The guy on the left is using a Guytron amp for his electric sound and a Rivera acoustic amp for the acoustic side of the T5. The video is from the DVD that comes with the T5 from Taylor. The actual DVD is a little longer than what is shown here.

  • These are BEAUTIFUL to play. I went round my friends house and he has over 20 guitars, including SG's, LP's, Martin Acoustics, Custom Ibanez RG Series, and this. The action is amazing, virtually touching the fret, yet no fret buzz at all. Best guitar I've ever played.

  • I can't get my T5 Custom to sound like that first sound at all and I tried it with traditional p.a., Bose L1, Fishman Soloamp and Fishman Loudbox. What are the K4 settings to get that very first "acoustic" sound???

  • I can't get my T5 Custom to sound like that first sound at all and I tried it with traditional p.a., Bose L1, Fishman Soloamp and Fishman Loudbox. What are the K4 settings to get that very first "acoustic" sound???

  • I wish i could afford one~~~

  • I am sitting here thinking that I could get all the guitar sounds for Paul McCartneys Band On The Run, from just one guitar, wow!! I have two Taylors already and I really enjoy them. Thanks Bob!!

  • People have to buy a good pedal board to get all that sounds... Sorry

  • 6:10-6:20 sounds slightly like "Purple Rain" by Prince

  • what type of strings this guitar uses?

  • whatever you want. like any stringed instrument.

  • @intrepgun: Oh sure. Like a fender strat would have elixir nanoweb acoustic strings on it? it was a good question. it's an elec / acoustic hybrid. so what does taylor ship it out with? "urrr. whatever u want. like any stringed instrument darrr"

  • if you want to know what they ship it with, call them and ask. or buy one and find out. i'm not here to baby you.

  • wow....

  • Anyone know what song he's playing at 5:17. I know I've heard it before.

  • @wolfman3000

Sounds like the lick to "Mystery Train."

  • what kind of amp could i get to for this guitar?

  • @19laurel94 You really want to play it through TWO amps. An acoustic guitar amp or PA for the acoustic sounds, a traditional guitar amp (Fender, Vox, Boogie, Line 6, etc.) for the electric sounds. If you don't mind a compromise, look into a Roland Cube amp. They have a nice acoustic guitar simulator that sounds really good with my T5 and the electric sounds from the Cube amps are pretty damn good too!

  • Is the T5 strung with light electric guitar strings (like Ernie Ball Slinkys), or the heavy gauge acoustic?

  • This year's spring edition is the shit. I think it's livelier than the standard version. It's perfect for the general jazz musician that only wants to take one guitar to a gig. I can go from fusion to bebop with a few flips of switches with this thing.

  • is it possibly to make a semi acoustic guitar sound distorted please tell me guys =]

  • Of course. You can make a Martin HD-28VE sound distorted if you run it through and over-driven amp (or merely effects that make it sound over-driven.)

  • this one sounds pretty sexy when you do actually.

  • yes, you'll a get a very very very warm sound.

If you wanna know. James Hatfield plays a distorted guitar solo on the song Nothing else matters with the symphony orchestra...check out :D

  • yes there is, but it will sound like shit. plug your acoustic in an electric amplifier.

  • ROFL

  • a great guitar i've tried one, why all the pedals and effects ? we want to hear guitar tones ? the heavy distortion is ready to scream out of control, playing this tone live and loud would create bad feedback i think

  • uh... it's not really made for heavy distortion. it's an electric made to sound like an acoustic, pretty much. but actually, the feedback's not bad. i got one after a tour in OIF as a gift to myself (best gift ever!) and i can not tell you how versatile it is. plus the case it came with is freakin' alligator leather! how badass is that???

  • Here here... If I spend 3 grand on a Taylor guitar, I want to hear wood and strings. If I want growling and screaming, I'd get a $600.00 Schecter or some such shit.

  • Excellent demo! Awesome guitar! Thanks for the vid!! -Derek

  • ive heard many vids, the quality of this guitar shines through big time, all my yearnings for diferent guitars have been squashed, this baby will do everyhting i want, its amazing.

  • best taylor ever for me its the

    taylor 414ce

    buy one!

  • It all comes down to your application. If you want a great acoustic gtr that's physically easier and not prone to feedback this is it. If you want a great acoustic AND electric in one for live, or if your in the studio, then this is not so hot. I'd still use separate instruments in the latter applications. This is great for live acoustic and a maybe a backup electric in a pinch. But the only perfect"dual" guitar I've found for all these scenarios is a PRS Hollowbody II w/ Piezo.

  • Great review guys, really a great job showing the versatility of the instrument...I bought one last night off the strength of your review. Awesome. Don't worry about the guy below me...he probably wasn't loved as a child.

  • Get real guys, you CAN'T REALLY hear what this sounds like out of a freakin computer!! Why are you kidding yourself, trying to make a decision of what guitar to buy from... a YOUTUBE vid? Come on. I've played this guitar live and it is FANTASTIC. Never heard anything like it. But don't take my word for it. Go to your local shop and try it yourself when it's not coming out of your $10 computer speakers out of a shit-quality video.

  • Oh yes. The audio quality of standard youtube is so poor that it's not possible to tell how great this guitar is (it is, I've heard it live ;-)) in comparison to a 100€ one, if played correctly by the same guy.

The "Test it yourself" advice is also a good one because any good guitarist may adapt himself to the strength of guitar and know how to hide any weakness of it. And he will do it if he want to sell it.

  • @chuckthemagicnorris Amen to that!! You guys never know what you like till you try it out. You buy it because you think it looks awesome in a youtube vid, and you end up wasting your money.. no doubt this guitar is awesome guys but go to a guitar shop and take a look at a wider choice.. you'll be thankfull.

  • @chuckthemagicnorris Not all of us monitor our computer sound with $10 speakers. I use $1000 speakers and the sound is not THAT bad.

  • @chuckthemagicnorris This is one of the better vids out there, they recorded it properly, and done professionally which is what you need if you want to get any quality out of a youtube vid. I have played this guitar, and I think the video does it justice coming through my Altec Lansing speakers and woofer. However you should always try it in person.

  • this is an electric guitar or a very bad ass acoustic guitar xDD it owns!! xD

  • Idiot, the Ultra II is awesome, but this is a whole new league. I agree the Ultra II has a much better electric sound, but its acoustic voice doesn't even compare

  • Dude your nuts....This guitar is the best hybrid acoustic electric ever made. Thats a fact. Most responsive beautifully toned guitar ever. If i could only afford it...

  • may be crazy, but my tanglewood have a sound very like this.

  • I spent about 3 hours playing one earlier this week at Guitar center. I'm completely in love with it and I'm going to start saving to get the 2,900 they're asking for it.

I LOVE the sound, I tried about 15 other guitars that day and none measured to the T5

  • i played one of these at the store today.. it's really cool and sounds great.

  • should i get a 35 watt or 65 watt amp for my montage guitar?

i play in my room, and ill be doing covers on youtube, and will be recording a cd in the spring, so which watt is right for me?

  • Id go with a 50 or a 75 (or 65 in your case) its just about the right size for IN MY ROOM playing for me.

  • damn! this video makes me want to buy one!!!! *****

  • WOW... if only i can afford on of these...

  • The T5 plays has a very nice sound unplugged which I utilize on road trip while staying in motels so as not to bother the room on either side of mine. There are other brands such as Martin, Ibanez, Takamine, etc, but the Taylor guitars when compared just have a bright beautiful sound. Drawn back, can be very expensive depending on the model/wood/standard or custom choices you decide on. Love the three I have,Acoustic,T5,Solidbody.

  • and i have onboard chorus, reverb, phase switch and chromatic tuner as well as ind. volume w/ a master control

  • save yourself $1500 and buy an Ibanez Montage. i have one and luv it. very versatile and sounds just like this one

  • The Ibanez Montage is actually a very nice guitar, my band worked with a local solo artist at a recent gig, he used one of these. And remembering your comment, I asked him to compare a Montage to a T5, they both have strengths and weaknesses.

All for our gain as musicians.

  • yeah, but the taylor is still one of the best. just the whole money thing.lol

  • @airsoftsteve

I have a Montage I think it was around $900. Great guitar, I love it. I have to say though, I have been lusting after this one in Guitar Center for years now. The T5 is completely different, you can't even compare them. The playability on it is much more electric than the Montage, and the sounds are even more versatile than this video shows.

Cool about Montage is the onboard reverb, distrotion, chorus, 3Band EQ, etc. You just plug it into anything and go, and that's great.

  • @hughman174 Crafter Guitars makes several guitars that look VERY simillar to the T5 (The SAT series), for about 500-700 bucks. I have Crafter's highest model acoustic and it sounds awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • @hughman174- I played the Ibanez Montage quite a bit before finally buying a T5. Let me tell you, they really sound nothing alike.

The build quality & materials used in the T5 are lite years above & beyond the Montage & so are ALL the tone from smooth-clean to dirty.

It also mattered to me that the T5 is built from start to finish in San Diego Ca USA under constant quality controls. The Montage is built in China, Taiwan or ??

The extra cost for this heirloom guitar is well, WELL worth it!

  • do they use electric guitar strings or acoustic?

  • electric

  • electric.

  • Can it be played UNPLUGGED too?

  • i played one of these at guitar center and fell in love with it. can any one loan me 2 grand so i can buy one?

  • yeah i will

  • *****

  • an EARgasm possibly?

  • it sounds like an orgasm in my ear

  • great!!!

    Taylor best

    5 stars

  • i got a little question... wich is the strings gauge on this guitar?

  • What is a gauge string?

  • danielndenise: The guage is the size of the string

    rinkuo: I believe 10's

  • Taylor T5 or the Tom Anderson "Crowdster"?

  • I own one... 07 custom spruce top with the honey sunburst finish... if you have the cash get this guitar now!!

  • omg i saw that 2day at the guitar center and i played alot of others but thats teh single best guitar ive ever laid my hands on, i wish i had it, i agree with that guy i would kill

  • I agree, It is a steal for $2,000 but you can find slightly used ones for as much as 50% off on eBay, I use eBay all the time and can get awesome gear without breaking the bank.

  • What kind of stompbox is the guy on the right (the one with the brown Koa guitar) using? Anyone have any idea of what it is? Make or model? Thanks.

The T5 is a great axe.

  • An old Line 6 POD X3 Live, it looks different now, I use one with my gibson and it works great.

  • I would Kill for a T5. Kill.

  • lol

  • Does anyone one know were I can download this video. I lost the dvd that came with my T5.

    Thanks

  • You can download this video from guitar centers website lust search taylor T5 and it will be below the product description.

    Keep Playing...

  • What are the best strings for the T5?

  • Gibson vintage reissue strings work the best suprisingly

  • sweet

    I'll try 'em

    Thanks!

  • Doesn't seem like one can say one particular set of strings are objectively "the best". There is a range of sound, feel, durability, cost and so forth to consider with all strings. Just my 2 cents...

  • Your right, butson89, thats my personal opinion.

and yes, .12s are good, although it might be wise to get a lighter gauge since this is an electric, that would offer more versatility, without compromising tone.

  • i would use elixir nanoweb custom lights

    or cleartone acoustic .12 guages

  • i dont like the look...but the sound is uh-may-zing!

  • Every time I see a T5 I want to beat my head off a wall.

  • That is absolutely AMAZING, man! That acoustic sound is unreal!

  • Comment on the presentation!

  • Great Presentation! Very Nice Guitar, How much does it cost, I want it here in UAE (Dubai)but i cant find one :(

  • It costs 7,700 Dirham, Hope you find one!
