It's true potential didn't really kick in until it hit the 60 MPH mark; unlike other engines it just kept pulling (when you put the pedal down it comes on like no other). Now IMHO the 440 Sixpack is a force to be reckoned with simply 'cause it almost matched the Hemi in HP while sustaining the low end monster torque.

Performance is good but Performance mixed with Reliability makes all the difference.

Stock Challenger and built civic. Enough said. Throw a cam, intake, headers, exhaust. a stall and some slicks and the challenger will run 11's all day. I would love to see a civic run 11's all day and not blow up. But its science and is impossible without Bill Gates funding you and your POS civic. I dont know why anyone would waste time with a civic build. pick up a cheap z28 camaro and do the same build as the civic and end up with twice the hp and have a fast RELIABLE car.

@nhall33 I completely agree, i got a 97 Mustang with a vortech supercharger a 70mm intake plenum and 3.73 gears thats it stock ignition, internals and suspension and i run low 12's all day...oh did i mention the car has 90,000 miles and the supecharger has 36,000 miles on it and all ive done is change the oil over the last 5 years? Performance is good but Performance mixed with Reliability makes all the difference.

I'm gonna be honest here: I love that Dodge captured a retro look of that Challenger. But my god they fucked up in thge preformance. American cars were designed for stop light racing, they went for top speed; plus the built in traction system bullshit completely renders all that torque useless. Put that civic up against a '70 challenger 426 HEMI and see what happens.

I think it's great that some "modded" imports are fast, and don't care if I can beat them all. I drive muscle because I like the sound, the feel, the torque and LOVE all the room I have to boot in my 4000 pound 13 second boat. Congrats to all import drivers with fast cars. But for what it's worth, a pair of slicks, and this race is different

@TrowVr01, I have always liked hondas and have owned a turbo GSR hatch. I do agree that the only reason the civic won was because of it's weight. B Series Honda motors are not on the cutting edge anymore. That hemi has much newer technology in place.

I think you get this the other way around. You see its actually amazing that a small engine in the civic that actually lost only by .1 to a monstrous str-8. The Civic weights probably anything around 2.5K lbs, and the Dodge Challenger SRT-8 weights 4.1K lbs according to autos d0t c0m. In conclusion the Civic doesn't weigh twice as much. In order for the Civic to weigh twice as much it has to be 2K lbs, which I highly doubt is the civic's weight. Civics are not as light as Lotus's.

The Challenger still ran a faster time than the Civic (14.43 beats 14.55) but the Civic won because he was closer to his dailed time of 14.7.
Clearly the Challenger took it easy off the line (noob driver maybe) and still out paced the Civic.
