@breakurleg11 He didn't specify whether it was stock bottom end or not but my chances anyone pushing 425hp out of a N/A 4cyl probably has done their homework and built the internals appropriately. Either way on those focus forums some of those high hp builds are over seas for us to be jealous over... those uk duratecs are crankin some serious hp!
@mockingbirdps Ya those K20's that are in the type s and the newer SI's are no joke. I know that there are guys in the UK that make 300+ N/A wheel horsepower with these 2.3L ford duratecs but here in the states the most I've seen is around 205hp+ N/A in the 2005-2007 Focus ST 2.3L duratecs...

cool! Ya the CAI draws cooler air to the motor but at the risk of hydrolocking the motor if the intake sucks up any water from any splashes from deep puddles or if the filter gets submerged.
I think power gains are about the same. the sri doesn't have as cold air but it is less restrictive because how short it is. Air doesn't have far to travel so the engine gets more air.
I'd say your about right in the sense of the length for the air to travel... and if it's 100 degrees outside it almost really doesn't matter if you have a CAI or SRI... your going to be sucking in hot air regardless... I haven't had any problems with heat soak as of yet and once the car gets moving theres quite a bit of airflow under the hood anyways...
Hes probably lying. Most you could safely hold on a stock bottom end in a N/A duratec is 305 HP

gotta put a vid up w/my cai to see if theres any even SLIGHT differences. notice the better power in the top end w/the sri?
russmistro 1 year ago
@russmistro Ooh ya! It was a huge difference immediately and I was actually really shocked! This video was actually before the intake.

@vwpayne41 hell ya! I love mine...

@DJSlurp1200 I've had mine for like 2 yrs an love it still, ppl say its slow but you can definatly get in trouble in it. lol

@vwpayne41 Well it is what it is man... it's a naturally aspirated 2.3L 4cyl.... what can anyone expect?
DJSlurp1200 1 year ago
@DJSlurp1200 i can easily make a 300 whp rsx with a naturally aspirated four cyl.

@DJSlurp1200 lolwhaaaat? i seen a guy get 460 N/A with a 2.3 duratec on the focaljet forums.

looks like intake/exhaust would help a lot. on my 10-100 video it takes me 16 seconds to go from 20-100 compared to your 21 seconds..
course now im doin 20-100 in like 10 lol
w8lifter1265 3 years ago
That's quite the difference! I imagine just the Intake and Exhaust would work wonders! I can tell the duratec really wants to breath!
DJSlurp1200 3 years ago
Just added the Steeda intake!
Runs alot better and I can really feel a difference in overall throttle response and mid to upper range power!!
That stock non-serviceable airbox in the 05-07 focus's really does restrict alot of airflow.
DJSlurp1200 2 years ago
did you add the cai or sri?
ojd1990 2 years ago
This particular video was taken before I installed the Steeda intake and the Steeda is only available in a SRI form...
DJSlurp1200 2 years ago
they make or made a cai for the svt but I got the sri
