  • My engine mods includes an Eaton M90 supercharger, high output Walbro fuel pump, a boost compensated fuel pressure regulator, Apexi AFC II air flow/fuel manager, wide band O2 , K&N air filter, low restriction exhaust and a stage 2 clutch. I also installed a Quaife limited slip differential in the transmission because you will destroy the stock differential with the added horsepower. You will also need an engine ECU data logger for tuning like MMCD by Mirage or other brand.

  • My supercharged 3000GT pushes 6-8 psi of boost on stock internals and I achieve 230 front wheel horsepower on the dyno (equivalvent to at least 300 engine horsepower. The low end torque is phenominal. It is fast out of the hole, but the top end is lacking. You need a good set of ported heads to get the top end speed. A turbo car will end up beating you in the quarter mile because it can push more air through the engine and get better high end torque and horsepower.

  • Turbocharging is another story. You want 8:1 pistons with a turbo charger. You can achieve up to 15 psi of boost with a good intercooler and stock engine internals other than the lower compression pistons. If you boost higher than 15psi, you may want to consider beefing up your rods, getting a hardened crankshaft and forged pistons.

  • There is no point in swapping out 10:1 pistons with 8:1 pistons when supercharging this engine. You will lose 20 to 30 horsepower by doing that. Instead of getting 300 engine horsepower you will only get 270hp. Stick with 10:1 and 6-8psi supercharger boost.

  • The 6G72 NA engine with the 2 bolt main bearing cradle is proven to handle up to 400 crank horsepower reliably. You do not need 8:1 pistons with a supercharger because most superchargers are designed to output only 6-8psi of boost. Boost levels higher than 8psi will require an intercooler to cool the air charge to help prevent knock and you will be working the supercharger too hard. That will just complicate your build and start making things too expensive.

  • to all who asked to change a 6g72 to a sc or turbo motor there are a few things you need,#1low compression pistons larger fuel injectors main bearing cradle for the tt cast block and over sized main and connecting rod bearings the block must be line bored and tapped andied for the new tt cradle for it has i think twelve bolts where as the base has eight i think.anyways after all that there still the matter of plumbing and tuning over all a built tt version /larger turbos may be more affordable.

  • how much mpg do you get? any transmission problems?

  • fuckin sikk. i have a DOHC stock.. but im plannin on fixin it up a bit. But i think imma put turbo

  • I love the whine so much. Amazing.

  • this is front wheel drive still right cause i would love to put a supercharger on my 1995 sl how hard is it to do/how much does it cost

  • I am going to do the turbo upgrade late 2011.

    How to do it:

Install the parts from a turbo car that are missing on a non turbo car. I have 99% of them on hand. I am keeping the FWD transmission.

  • If you want to learn how to mod your car go to 3si.org

  • How long have you had the TK supercharger? Have you had any trouble? How many pound of boost are you running? Done any other mods.

    Thx I.B.Sorgn

  • fuckin awesome ive never seen one supercharged before. i miss mine. i drive an 05 yukon denali now with a 6.0 vortec i wanna supercharge. great job man

  • I second what craigdatiga had posted. I also was thinking of SC my SL

  • @3kgtSL16 Did you supercharger your SL?

  • PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE MAN, post a vid of this beast driving. I would LOVE to SC my sl.

  • I also have a base model and want forced induction but isn't supercharging bad for fwd cars? Lots of traction loss? The eaton supercharger is $4000! I think I might TT my base and see how much it'll cost still over $3000 just in parts I bet. Its not cheap modding ... Nice car it looks and sounds great.

  • Traction is a problem for all FWD cars when you step on the gas. There is a weight shift to the rear tires.

Supercharger is nice on a 10:1 compression engine. You can get over 300 engine HP/225 wheel HP with under 10psi boost and a roots charger.

Turbo is better. You can easily get over 400 wheel HP with turbos and 8:1 pistons. Although, that is probably too much for a FWD street car.

  • @beaujestr you can't just strap a turbo on the base model,I was told the turbo engine has a lot less compression inside the engine(built for turbo) than the stock non-turbo engine, which means there is a lot of modifications you must do to it so you can attach the turbo, but I'm not a mechcanic so you know, lol,But if anyone does know how to make a Non-turbo gto into a turbo GTO then please share your knowledge :)

Sorry GTO = 3000GT it's different in diffferent countries

    Cheers

  • For a '94 it looks great ;) The SC whine is louder than the exhaust which imo makes the car more aggressive even tho you have it muffled down. Overall awesome!

  • Sorry about the slip up. Yes it is supercharged. I installed the Thomas Knight supercharger kit. The car should have been called a BASE model without the NA designation. The car was NA when I bought it, though.

  • @beaujestr was the install very difficult? did you do the install yourself? how long of a task was it for you?

  • u must b clueless bout d engine bay.. its sc! not NA

    cool tho

  • geoff knight build your sc kit?

  • how can you say that its N/A when you can clearly see and hear the supercharger
