  • no amps, no problem! mighty fine, mighty fine.

  • @gasshuffer No electronic effects with these ole boys, just the real deal

  • I'm a northerner raised on rock n roll. Just getting to have an appreciation for Bluegrass music...keep up the good work.

  • Thanks, bluegrass is real music. music from the people.

  • Sounds mighty good boys!

  • Love it! Now this is North Bama at it's best!

  • Thanks. that was a beautiful morning at our heritage center.

  • i which i was there nice playing its all begain out there?

  • I wish you could have been there too Stekene. These fellows are authentic and were taught to play by their ancestors. Yes much of today's music had its roots in our deep South.

    thanks for watching and commenting

  • i randomly played this, figuring it'd be alright, but this stuff is some excellent playing, and a nice recording. Thanks for posting it, as it's keeping me awake at work.

  • Yes Jack these old boys are the real deal. It was fun getting them on video too.

  • My goodness gracious!!!! You can't imagine my surprise when I opened this video and saw that my Uncle Woodrow was the banjo player!!! I live in Colorado and don't get to see the family much down south and I was tickled to death to see him. We would all get together and sing at Granny's house over in Estill Fork and had great times! Can't thank you enough for posting this video!!! By the way, I've watched everything you've posted about Scottsboro and the area! Bless you!!! Nick Sims

  • Thanks Nick, I can imagine your surprise. Your uncle Woodrow is a great banjo player. Not too many folks know where Estill Fork is. Thanks for watching my other videos too. I love this part of the country as my family has been here for about10 generations now.

    Bests

    Richard

  • THIS IS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT!! truly special!! do these guys have a CD??

  • Thanks. they are just a small town band who play for the fun of it

  • ...Alabama at its best. Had a wonderful start in this grey sunday morning.

  • Richard, have they ever recored anything in a proper studio?

  • I can't say for sure, but I doubt they have. I'll check around and see. Sometimes small country groups will record, but using low standard studios.

    jim

  • Thanks Jim, glad you enjoyed our down homw music. We will drop by and check you out.

  • Fantastic!! Absolutely love it, not much bluegrass here in lil ol New Zealand! You guys are wonderful.

  • Hello Jack, Glad you enjoyed. Toobad you are bluegrass deprived there . . maybe we can export some down to you;-)

  • They sounded great, what was the occasion? Nothing beter than some down home bluegrass on a fall afternoon.

  • We have a local museum that hosts a heritage gathering once a year and local people gather for it.

  • Watching your videos has actually made me realise that a lot of what you see in films (accents) is (and train horns, just heard that as I was typing) real, not exagerrated

  • To us in the South , many Hollywood Southern accents are way off. But as I have said before, there are great differences across the South.

And well, yes the train horns are real, they blow for every crossing and there are many crossings.

  • Great music! A real treat! Thank you for sharing!

  • Thanks a lot, glad I could do it.

  • wow! i have loved this music since i first heard it years ago. i heard some rock 'n' roll in thereas well. nice one richard. keep well

  • This music is as old as our hills. I've heard it for 60 years, but it goes back way before that.

  • beautiful!Loved the accapello

  • Yes some of these old songs will bring tears to ones eyes

  • My daughter is wanting a mandolin and adores bluegrass. Something we don't hear alot of here in the UK. Thankyou for letting me hear the real thing. Her mum now approves :)

  • The mandolin is a beautiful instrument and bluegrass is real peoples music

  • how much better could a saturday afternooon get..grt ty

  • Couldn't think of many other places I would have rather been

  • Can't help foot tapping to that sort of stuff!! :-)

  • It will make some folks "buck dance".

  • can you play an instrument? lol

  • I have trouble playing music on a CD.

  • Good ol' boys sound good :D Thanks fer sharin' Richard

  • Yep, they were in fine tune, just wish I could have stayed longer.

  • Heh . My partner, Carla, loves to play autoharp and banjo .. I'll have to favorite this one for her ..

    Elaine

  • OK Elaine, thanks. there was also a dulcimer maker/player there today but sorrowfully I didn't get video of that.

  • The accents get me, I love it, then again our Australian accent is probably ammusing for you!

  • I enjoy your Australian accents too. It is said the backwoods, Southern accent has its roots in the speech the English brought with them when America was being settled.

  • I'm British, whatever accent you are used to anything else is great!

  • Good work mate, sounds awesome, don't get anything like that down here. If you ever get the chance post more !!

  • Bluegrass is very common around here and easy for me to record. I catch some more real soon. All the musicians are self taught and love to play.

  • Doesn't get much better! ☺ Beautiful fall afternoon...bluegrass..train whistle. Pure Americana.

  • Thanks, I was in hawg Heaven. There were also oak camp fires burning that made it even better.

  • Excellent! I Love this stuff. Thanks for sharing this with us.

  • The instruments fro L-R are, banjo, guitar, mandolin, bass fiddle, and another guitar . . . the smudge on my lens is free of charge.

  • That was awesome!! Gene & I got up and danced! Yippee!

  • Great. these ole boys are the real deal, Dixie born and Dixie bred.
