i've tried going over apple's info and everything possible but nothing seems to even explain the problem... thing is, i can't use the Ipod for anything (4th gen 16gig) all i get is a screen where u are supposed to choose language for the ipod i guess. but i can't do anything cause the touchwheel or whatev it is called doesn't work... my guess is that it's broken -.- tho if any1 has any idea u could let me know... it's damn annoying, since i got it as a birthday present...

@Broseph015 My iTunes won't recognize my iPod. I can't add/delete music. I've tried everything. I've called tech. support. I've even brought it to an Apple store. No one can figure out what's wrong. The guy at the Apple store deleted what music I had in it so now it's empty. I have lots of accessories for it so now I'm screwed.

Thanks buddy. You just saved me $169.00. I was about to buy a ipod nano for my son. The ipod nano was left on the pants when it was washed. when dried, the backlight of the LCD didn't work. Everything else did,except for the LCD. I tried the diagnostic LCD test and fixed it. Thanks to you, my son is happy.

Not a hack, not an Easter egg. The diagnostic menu is for troubleshooting the hardware.

If anything it's a tool which is mostly useless to the end user. It's only practical use to the common individual is to determine if there is something wrong with a used iPod you plan to buy.

the point of the diagnostic test is was that it was built for repair. It can also be a test to make sure that your ipod is functioning properly

i did this to a display one at bestbuy and must have change something in the internal memory or something, and every time i restarted it, the apple logo would flash and the screen would change to a bunch of crazy paterns and messup.

This isn't exactly a hack. A hack is more something that you make the Ipod do that it wouldn't normally. All Ipods do that...its part of the programming.
