I'm kind of ashamed to say that the reason why I love classical music is because when I was little I used to watch the barbie movies and fell in love with the music, but I guess it's a good thing because it brought me here.
Also, @ PauleQueenie. Just checked the Wiki; there a lot more 'divorces', so to speak, between swans than previously thought; so they're not quite as faithful than they let on. And come on, they're essentially big white ducks, any air of grace comes mostly from their build than some sort of pre-destined ability for charm. To push human traits on animals (untamed animals, no less) is just ridiculous.
@ ForForm, Don't worry, most of them are bullshitting. If you boil down most of it, the comments are basically "The music is about swans.I like swans; they're awesome." or "Oh my God. This music evokes emotion." You miss most of the story without the ballet dancers and the little pamphlets they give out before the performance. So again, don't worry about it. See the ballet if you can, it adds a lot to the piece(es).
Ok... so they usually say classical music and ballet is for the people with class... I thought that was untrue, but here I am as a regular guy between hundreds of people speaking like they are a famous composer themself or are at least a well respected critic <.<
this piece of music makes me think, cry, and sometime laugh out loud! it invokes such a flurry of emotions that i cant begin to comprehend them in full detail, i suppose given the circumstances all you can do is go with it and get lost in the moment!
The melancholy of nuances one can hear yet not practice them in one's life. As if the nuances were the people going about their lives, not wishing or not caring enough to be serious about life in general and their lives. The expression of nature
@FlyingGold, educate the educated for they have not understood the blank page at the end of the books, trying to translate purity into vagrant nonsense to their liking. Education has NO reason and the educated have NO reason to be proud of their twists either. There will always be music...
@TheDavid2222, the mundanity of swans is in their uneducated grace. Their aesthetic is in the untaught mundanity of their lives, however simple, they seem so much like humans and unlike them because of their faithfullness towards each other. If the music was to carry you like the water let the swans float you too would live a life of mundanity and aesthetic without being taught, then you would think of life as the most simple gift of untaught genius and would wish to live FREE as they do.
@schemes16 Romeo and Juliet is not of nowadays musical them anymore. And I thought this particular scene was more about nuances as I wrote in my previous comment.
Hearing the melodious harp at the start and the violins are so sweet and so full of detail and nostalgia offering a very welcoming score with full impetus to detail and to discovery.
@tHEnOOSEsWINGS That's what I like about classical commentators, they rise above the deficiencies of pop commentary and encapsulate the emotional aspect much closer.
Am I the only sitting here with goosebumps? This is beyond perfection.

however the piece itself one of the most despairing and beautiful pieces of all time, imo
you can actually hear the sorrow of forbidden love
